A shameless plug for Arkansas, the nations number one relocation state in the US two years straight. As I type this we are at 50F degrees windy a lot of grass is still green Bermuda is all brown. Great incentives (tax) for retired folks and disabled veterans. State with total population less than most big cities. By same token it does get blister butt hot with humidity in the summer and all creatures want to eat you, from snakes to ticks! We don’t own a snow shovel or a snow blower! Hah! We left them with the house up in North Dakota!

I would go down the street from Grandma and grandpa's house in Chicago to Joe's paper and tobacco shop. He was one side sitting and all the models were on the other side. He would get tired of walking over there to get models for me. He'd say "get them yourself but don't break anything". One time, I came home with a grocery bag of 63 AMT Buick 225 and Pontiac Bonneville convertible models. Still charged the box price of $1.49. Think the last one I sold went for $25. Also got some of those early "saggy" cars from him, an Edsel hardtop and convertible. Paid $1 each. He had them sitting on the radiator (steam heat). After having them from grade school into college age, sold the pair for $75. The history explains alot of why kits seemed good in some years and went to poop in a hand basket other years. AutoWorld catalog from Scranton,PA was the holy grail for kits and paint. Have their catalog now but out of Indiana. (shipping is good and quick). Sorry to ramble on, I really enjoyed the stories!
