Ok guys .....

Comp Cams 23-362-5 cam
264 & 270 duration @ .50
294 & 299 duration
.567 & .579 lift
solid lifter cam
950 holly on a Victor , new in box 2" CPPA headers .
MSD ignition , Dana 60 , Superstock springs ,
325 X 50 X 15 Micky Thompson ET Street drag radials with a mini tub & 8 point roll bar done .
Converter not picked out yet .
Car will be a street machine when completed .
I have a 4.10 for the Dana...... Should I drop back to a 3.73 gear with the 28" tall tires I have for it ?
How much ET would I give up at the track when I take it a couple times a year ?
Im having the Dana cut next week , nows the time to change the gears if I'm gonna do it..
I just don't want to give up allot of ET at the track dropping down to a 3.73
Anyone with some software to run some numbers on the difference ? or experience with the two gear ratios ?

Any feedback guys ???
Donnie

Are the tires 28" tall? You can run any gear you want. If it was me, I'd run 3.54s to drive the car with. The convertor choice will be critical for this... I think if you stick much more in you will have a hard time driving the car at anything more than 1/2 throttle. Being serious there... The 505 that makes just shy of 600hp and 600tq, will spin the tires in 3rd at 45mph with 3.54s at 1/2 throttle. That's in a heavy 70 E body with a stick...

tires are 28" tall drag radials , and I think with 11" of tread on the pavement .
I was gonna call Dynamic Converter when I decide on the rear gears , 4:10 is already in it .
I'm curious what ET difference is there between a 4:10 and a 3.73

Awesome motor, and car! White knuckle time.:-D I'm thinking the 4.10 might be overkill too. You can always try it, then switch to a lower (numerically)gear.

I did a 498 motor for a friend of mine, making some 590-610HP.Started with 3.73 gears, could not drive the car as it would spin the tires with super light throttle.Did 4 gear changes and got down to 3.08,and it became some what tame then, but if you put your foot into it,blow the tires off of it in no time.Even with a 3000 convertor, you are going to make alot of torque, and in a light rear end car,the tires are toast,no matter what gear you install.Mrmopartech

Man,,,,,,,, Im getting wood just thinking about it :)
Car is slowly getting finished , but probably still almost a year away from finishing it.
I was wondering how much I would give up on ET from a 4:10 to a 3.73 with my combo . If the drag radials wouldn't hook , slicks would go on it
