Is there an easier way to remove the strut rod other than having to remove the LCA? Retired mechanic from the dealership said they used to cut the rod, replace the bushings , then weld it up, not my way of doing things but guess if your flate rate you'll make an extra buck. PO installed poly bushings and this created 2 problems-I can't stand the sqeeks and the thicker bushings are pushing the LCA back and loosing postive caster.

No other that I know of. Pull the LCAs, They probably need bushings too.

Firm Feel sells an adjustable strut rod. It's designed to deal with the exact caster problem you describe. Can't help with the sqeaks, though. But I wonder if it can be installed without removing the LCA (since you can shorten it like a turnbuckle)? You should ask them.

I agree with you about the poly bushings...squeak, squeak

If you need additional caster, you can also install Moog K7103 upper contol arm bushing kits. They'll give you a couple of degrees either way depending on how they're installed.

I just replaced the strut rod bushings on my 66 Cuda. I pulled the nuts off both ends then pulled the lower arm back with a come along until the rod came out. Replaced the bushings and let the arm back then tightened the nuts up. It only took about 1/2 hour per side.

Anybody else use this method.I bought the mancini adjustable strut rods and don't want to remove the lca's to install them if I don;t have to.

You might seperate the upper ball joint and lower the entire knuckle assembly enough to get the stut rod out. You would need to seperate the brake fliud lines. I can't say I've done it this way. You tell me if we can. LOL

Well then, I think I'll pass and do it the right way.
