in my case the fire was lit by the overlap cycle.What I don't understand is what triggers it. I mean the overlap cycle is always there, and the plenum always has an ignitable mixture in it.So it should always be doing it. But it doesn't. It only happens when you whack it open and it goes lean.

Anyway that's a whole nuther situation.
Surging at cruise is lean. You just have to figure out why it's lean.
Oh yeah, here's something that just occurred to me; if the timing slipped to retarded, and the cruise was borderline lean to start with, well that could do it too. Slipped to retarded, could mean a failed vacuum advance. This is a double whammy if the diaphragm ruptured.

Well guys just an update I tried messing around with the portal vacuum and the manifold vacuum with the vacuum advance it seems it likes the portal vacuum better
