Hello everyone! This is my first post. I am currently installing a T56 Magnum transmission in my 1969 340-S fastback Barracuda. I will try to figure out how to upload some pictures as soon as possible.
We have designed and fabricated the custom lower transmission mount required for the swap, and are currently finishing the upper crossmember.
We have invested hundreds of hours on these pieces, and we are wondering if there are any other MOPAR enthusiasts that might be considering this swap, and if there is a need for these parts. Just curious, and I wanted to tell everyone hello.
Thanks

Todd Johnson

Yes that is a Rocky Mountain Dash.
I heard they went out of business, or just quit doing them.
I wish I could get one more for my 68 Conv.
Thank you for the compliment. Todd

Check out the interior parts for sale forum. Rocky Mountain is now called Peaks Dashes. They are making them again.

Thanks Riddler. I will check that out!!! Has anyone bought one of the new ones??

Todd

Lots of people. They are the same as the Rocky Mountain Dashes as the guy running Peaks Dashes is the same guy who did RMD. He had the old blueprints.

Great job on the trans install. I'm in the process of doing the same with a T56 in a Duster.

I have a Viper T56 in my 68 dart. I used a transdapt crossmember bolted between the frame connectors. The tranny mount and the shifter are further back on the viper t56, but it still fits with my bench seat. For the torsion bar crossmember, I made a new one using bent tubes cut in half and welded new sheet metal over it for the floor. The stock auto carpet fits like a glove and you can't even tell the tunnel has been modified.

6 speed is so much fun to drive, worth every penny to do the swap

Beautiful car! Love the matte black stripe on black.

What size are the wheels/tires?

The wheels on the 1969 Barracuda are 17x7 with 225/45/17 front.
18x9 with 255/45/18 on the rear.

let me know what you think.

So far, everything we have done has been 1/4" steel.
I am still doing the mathematics on the torsional resistance.
More info soon. Todd

Did you end up drilling a new hole in the factory crossmember to bolt your new setup to? I've seen other T56 swaps that have to cut out the upper portion of the crossmember and it looked like they had to cut one of the bolt holes out. I like this setup because I don't have subframe connectors, so I need to use the stock crossmember as the mounting point for the trans. How different is the location of the mounting pads between the T56 Magnum and the older plain Viper T56?

For ease of installation, we cut the torsion support just outside of the innermost mounting bolts on both sides. We utilized the original outer holes on both sides, and we re-drilled new inner bolt holes. We should get the upper support today, and I will follow up with additional pictures. Todd

Ps. I am not familiar enough with the viper t56 to give any info on that. We are using a ford spec T56 Magnum. Sorry.

Okay, thanks for the info. Do you think you could measure from the face of the bellhousing back to the mounting pad? That might give me a good enough idea as to how different the two transmissions might be.

Here are the finished products. Photos to follow, as soon as I can shrink them down....

Very nice looking stuff. I have subscribed to thread. Thinking of doing something like this with my Duster.
