Got a telephone call this afternoon that blew me away.

Gentleman calls and asks "Would you be so and so."

Me: "Yes I am" (thinking this is someone asking for donations for Hurricane Relief or selling something)

Caller: "Are you into Mopars"

Me (to myself that's an odd question): "Yes I am"

Caller: " would you happen to own a 65 Barracuda?"

Me: "as a matter-of-fact, I do.

Caller: Did you happen to buy it from a college guy in Indiana around 2004 or so?"

Me (OMG!): "Yes"

Caller: "I'm the guy you bought it from!"

The rest of the lengthy conversation is about the car (which hasn't changed since I bought it), the motor with very little oil pressure, the interior he had done and installed it himself as a 17 year old. He told me it was his first car, bought when he was 14 1/2 before he even had a licence! He told me that he was the only 15 year old that he knew who that asked for and got a new carpet kit that Christmas for his car! Even with the low oil pressure problem, he drove it and when coming to a stop, kept the revs up so the oil pressure light would stay off. He sold it to me in mid 2004 as he needed money for college tuition and books. He's now 34 and the auto shop teacher in his high school. He broached the possibility of buying it back since it was his first car. I offered to send a few pics to him which I've done. It should bring the memories back as it's exactly the way I received it, right down to the light purple driver's fender (apparently he suffered a minor fender bender with it)! My wife thinks I ought to sell it back to him as she feels I'll probably never get to it with the wagon and 47 on my plate! And FABO says!

Here's a couple of pics of said 65 Barracuda:

Sure sell it to him, for twice or more than you paid for it.:D

Wow. Oppurtunity to make a guy's day. Or decade. No loss to you, at the very least let him make you an offer.are you attatched at all to the car?

I dust got my dart back i had 25 years ago, brought my son home from the hospital in it. Its rough but i dont care.

I got a call like that once, about a Curious Yellow 71 Challenger that I owned. He just wanted first chance if I ever decided to sell. At the time, I had no intentions of ever selling it.....it was the nicest car I've ever owned. He didn't keep calling and pestering me, but I made sure to keep his name and number. Long story short...my wife and I found a place at the beach for sale. I made the call...he didn't even dicker on the price, and he owns the car for the 2nd time in his life. I haven't regretted it one bit. I voted sell it to him.

I was able to buy back my Dads cuda, means the world to me. BTW I'm now in a position to do a quality resto which it badly needed.

youve had it 13 years...and it sits...

sell it back to him for what you have in it, plus reasonable interest.

consider it a college loan program thats now due in full.

Sell it,
I had a missed call on my home answering machine a few years ago, the guy lost the title to my first car, I sold him a 71 challenger in the 90's to divorce my first wife.
Why he never titled it is beyond me, since it was a nice car, hell yeah I called him back, I would help him get the title, but I had intentions to buy it back.
He never returned the call, at least I know it is still out there.

The tribe has spoken
Well it to the guy
He is a high school auto shop teacher for crying out loud
Dozens of his students will get to help bringing this car back to life while turning into mopar guys themselves

Maybe financing your projects to more complete status...I say sell it back to him !!
I agree sell it back to him. But at what price, is totally up to you and him to negotiate. I don't presume to know you and your family's financial needs. You don't owe him anything, nor does he owe you anything. It would be good if it gets restored, but once it's sold it's his to do with. He might flip it, you just don't know. There are no guarantees.

Yep I vote to sell it back to him just because he remembered who he sold it to 13 years ago. I'm sure you could make good use of the funds on the 47

Don,

I'll never get my 67 Two Door Dart back and the guy sounds legit so I would let him at least make an offer. Just my two cents selling my first car and finding out it went to scrap.
