ahhh im in my old skin again!!!....the art of straightening a bent alum arrow so it flys true has become usefull 50 yrs later.....so i tested the fuel in this new prodject...it did a woof and had big flame.....ok just add new to it......fired it up..ran ok....a month later....done with paint and the sort...let get that timeing chain and gears into it..wp while we are at it..tranny service..all fluids...t-up....done..fire her up....what the#$%#%$.......jerk the vc off...oh chit.....3 bent rods...caca....pop velves..yup sticky..caca..drain all gas...blow out all lines drain carb......true up rods...restart...ok better.....next day.....wt stinkin no good caca....true up 4 more rods.....ok start......nice....runs good.......2 wks later......stinking no good rotton old besach...true up 3 more rods....restart....runs good poor 1 qt of tranny fluid on the velves ..let it run 20 min.....ive never had ths happen in all my years......yes ill buy a new set of rods for it....but oh my............has anyone else had this issue before?????
 
No , but I used to straighten my bent arrows back years ago. What engine and type rods you have ?
 
she is the 64 slant 225.....when all the rods are going up and down..boy she runs real clean!!!!!
i wish this thing had hyd lifters.....but its the bad fuel that was grabing the velves....hopefully its all done with its nonsense
 
I traded an air compressor for a 65 Signet years ago. 225 with a skip. I pulled the valve cover to find a bent pushrod. I checked that valve and it was free. So I put the pushrod on an anvil and knocked it back straight, stuck it in, adjusted the valves and it ran like a sewing machine. For about a year till I put the 360 in it.

ive done a few hand full of flips with 6 bangers....never kept one for long.as i had my eights .....but im done with the whole hp noise thing....now im looking forward to a nice little cruzer that gets 20 mpg.....nice looking fun to drive...i like man steering and man brakes..never did have issues with drum brakes but then it was a every day thing in the 70s brake jobs front ends...stinkin carbs ....suspentions.......all good work...this ol girl should be a hoot to drive!!!
