That's one of several motors I just don't get the mystique over.
327 and 351c are others.
Never had a 327 but did own a 351c-4v so personal exp with that and the 3.8.
Neither was anything special.
Funny you mention these 2, our family had one of each that got it done.

There are dozens of different 327's from boring 2bbls to hauling *** L79's. And then many different 351C variations. Try a 1970-71 for some fun!

My 351C 4V was the original engine in my 71 toino GT.

It was "OK" but nuthin' to write home about.

Wasn't super easy to work on, either, and had some bad engineering issues like the flat plate behind the water pump that could easily partially detach during a pump cahnge are require pulling the balancer...and the distributor that was sitting in a low valley that collected and held water, causing the dist to seize. I got a particularly good story about that.
 
Ford water pumps are a joke.

The torino may be heavy for the engine.
My Family had a Mustang with a 351C 4 bbl 4 speed and it was a runner.
