when you get 65 and on medicare, they want ya to have a wellness exam. the local doc looks down ya throat at ya tonsils ( long gone), and listens to ya breath ( to see if ya still alive), takes blood for testing, that I see as valuable, ...... BUT before ya go into see the doc, ya fill out a "questionnaire". this is the funny-ish part. it asks if ya depressed. if when ya go grocery shopping how many times ya get lost on way back home. how many times ya forget ya name. if you could not light the stove,... IS there someone there to help ya.? then it asks how many times did I fall last year???? mulitiple answers, a,b,c,d. none, 2,5, OR can't remember.
so I try to answer all these questions. I figure the doc gets paid on me filling it out.and, I want to give him my little co pay. it all adds up. right?
so, question #5: how many times did I fall? huh??? off what????.... of my horse.? off the tractor,? trip over my friggin boots? off the couch ?? ( o k so I had a margarita or 2), off the bed ( O K SO THE LITTLE DOGS hog IT UP LEAVING ME WITH LITTLE). off the roof cleaning out the wood stove's flue?
so explain to the doc maybe the gov ment needs to do better job writing their questionnaire. and its the same every year. I remember all those questions.

fall...??? how about off the wagon..?? MAN - - every time I sober up and decide it's O-beer-30 again I guess...

hey, don't they have that one on top of your taxes questionnaire?
#1 were are there any changes in your income?
yes: continue to #2
no: sign and submit

Yeah stupid questions. I think the Govmnt is trying to send us to old folks home as quick as they can. Then in some states the doctors ask kids if there are guns in the home. Any way they can take away some freedom.

Dang, you spoiled it for me. I don't get to do that till January. It amazes me now you have a problem and need to see a specialist. First you have to go to your doctor and be referred to a specialist. Nothing big, but I have a mole that is getting larger and bleeds if you scrub it hard. Takes 2 months for the insurance to approve me to see a specialist. Ok, my appointment is this coming Wednesday. Just got a phone call they have to change my appointment till October.
Insurance didn't suck like it does today.

I have been asked the "guns in the home" question and really had to stop myself from saying NOYFB. (in those exact words)
I just looked at him and didn't say anything while he stood there waiting for an answer with his pen in his hand.
Also got asked by the most recent Doctor if and when the last time I fell was, and I told him 3 weekends ago but the dirtbike didn't get scratched or dinged but my riding pants got dirty. :D

Then the good question: When were you last seen by your doctor?
Me: About 30 years ago because doctors are bad for your health.

My Son got asked the guns in the house question by his school and he told them yes, but his own are the best ones. :D

the proper response to the question would be "of course not, they wont do me any good in the house while I'm here"

reminds me of an episode of SVU
a mom is questioned about carrying without a CPL...
Munch: Carrying a concealed weapon is a felony.
Mrs. McCreary: I don't. I leave it at home so the appliances can defend themselves.

Guns? No guns, traded them all in for flamethrowers, bazookas, and more effective armaments.
:wtf:
Next you're going to ask whether I have safe fuses or fire-trap circuit breakers?
Let me ask you, doc, if your car has obstructed rear vision by design, or whether you have ever taken "mood modification" prescription drugs.

Seriously? I may just be getting too old to live in this world.
Maybe they are worried about whether the guns are well maintained and healthy!
But they aren't listed as dependents on the insurance anyway...
I'm having a serious disconnect with modern refusal to let anyone maintain their personal responsibility and integrity.

ha! yes. I love it how ya wait 6 mo for the appointment with the specialist, then you get re scheduled for 3 mo later. urologist. they figure prostate won't kill ya for maybe 10 years. something else will probably do ya in.
one good thing bout Medicare, you can go see a specialist without the general doc sending ya. just pay the co pay. they will get the difference from gov ment!
insurance co. are basically criminal!? wait, don't let this little fun discussion go "political!" ha

No political here. At my age I think it is funny when I see the games the insurance companies play.
And my word, when you turn 64 1/2 you are bombarded with mail from all of these companies about Medicare. Today was slow, only had 7. More on email though

Ill be 63 in three weeks. Is that what I have to look forward to. Met my new doctor today. Asked me how I felt. Did a little looking and listening, looked over my chart from my previous Doctor. Said I seemed pretty healthy, gave me a sheet of paper with his office number and nurses names, then told me if I needed him call, other than that, come back in a year. Best one I believe I've ever been to.

I was asked if I had any guns in the house. I said, " No, I have them all with me now".

I used the NOYFB answer. Just wanted to make sure they understood my answer.

Must just be regular SS. Have been collecting SSDI since 08....never seen these questions yet..

Started just before Obummer Care. Another way for the govmeant to know about your guns

They must of stopped asking that question because I had a wellness check as part of my annual physical this past March and the nurse didn't ask. I'm sure if I answered the depression question they would of asked.

Getting thru the disability process was far from simple...once bi-polar was mentioned.
During the Social Security process I received a form/questionnaire asking, in several different was if I "self medicate" in one format or another. I have been on SSDI/OPM Disability since 08. Every couple of years I get some forms to fill out...when dealing with SS/OPM one has to think about how they answer any questions...was advised of this by my head doc in AZ.
