Three on the tree?

My older brother drove 40s and 50s cars when i was a kid in the 60s. He always swapped the column shifter to the left side of the column so he could drive with his arm around his cup holder, uh, I mean girl friend.

I've heard this called a 'sweetheart shifter'.

My first truck was a 72 Chev 250 straight 6 3 on the tree I would only get 2 weeks at most out of a clutch , i was fairly hard on equipment back then . Now i realize why my father would never let me drive his rigs .

My first car was a 72 Duster. After awhile I learned I needed more space for the ladies and bought a 69 Chebby van, 250 ci, 3 on the tree. It was a delivery special with no side double doors. Man, I had fun in that van!!
