I got a 2013 Dart auto with 125k. I'm getting a thumping noise between 14 mph and 22 mph (sounds like the front passenger wheel). I thought for sure it was the wheel bearing so I replaced it...wrong. I will admit to hitting a curb or two really hard (yes I'm stupid). I checked the three other wheels today, they seem ok. I checked the true of the rim, it looks fine. It's weird, it's like the tire is making noise, but it looks fine. I'm thinking maybe the CV axle, but that's supposed to be making clicking sounds. Any suggestions?

I don't know. Cheap camera aka hero look alike? Rig it down there and take a video of it driving.

Try checking for any loose plastic pieces/missing rivets around the area. My uncle had a 90s lexus that had a low thumping noise at certain freeway speeds and no one could figure out what it was after throwing a bunch of parts at the front passenger side of the vehicle. Turned out it was a loose piece of cowl plastic that gets partially covered by the hood when it's closed. Put a plastic rivet back where it was missing one and the sound went away

CV joint , Replace the axle
Hmm. Thank you, made sense to me to. But that did not work...and was a hard repair due to the lower control arm being a pain.

So, still the same problem. Thumping from 14-22 mph. Can rule out passenger side wheel bearing or CV axle. I checked the other wheel bearings. One was making a little noise, but none of them had play.

Transmission? DDCT. I don't buy it, it's just a dumb bulletproof gear box.

Is it possible one of the tire pressure sensors broke off and is causing an imbalance. I don't really buy that either.

The only other thing that could still be suspect is the driver side axle. I never curb-hit that side though, and it never made any previous noise. So I doubt it.

Delaminated or fractured tire.
Put the spare tire on the one you hit, and/or the one that's noisy.
Thank you good tip, I will check this next. Is it possible that hitting a curb can damage the tire?

In my dad's notes when he bought his/ my Dart, he noted a thump thump sound at a particular speed.

The replaced a couple tires and the sound went away.

Odd. I put the spare on today. Replaced the wheel that hit the curb a couple times. The thumping is still there. I guess I could change out the other three tires. That would eliminate a tire problem. The sound is hard to isolate.

Are you sure one of your buddies hasn't put something on your rotation assy that makes that noise?

There are Facebook videos that demonstrate how it's done

It's a bad tire. If you zoom in you can see how the surface of the tire "dips down". It's like the tire has a hole in it. It's one of the newer tires also. This is my first time seeing a bad tire. I guess the moral of the story is..."if it sounds like a bad tire...check the tires".

Thank you to all those who tried to help.

If That's a newer tire I don't want to see the other tires.

Maybe it's time for 4 NEW tires.

I'm sure you don't want to save 400 bucks just to blow out a tire and spent 5000 to fix the damage.

True story.

Last year at the hot rod rock and rumble at pikes peak raceway. A guy blue a tire on his way there, blue a hole thru his fender, and beat up the body right behind the wheel well opening.

It WAS a really nice car
