I have searched history as far as my abilities can go. I'm not finding my answers, so I want to start a new thread.

I'm about to start a 67 convertible to 70 swinger convertible conversion. I want the largest tire/wheel combo that will fit. I want all 4 wheels to be the same because I want the option to rotate the tires and carry one spare. I'm not concerned what the tire size is because I am most likely eliminating the spare tire well. I'm not sure that I can fold or trim the wheel lips because I want wheel opening moldings.

Is it true that the rear end can fit a larger tire/wheel than the front so the front tire size will dictate the rear size?

Many are upgrading the front suspension to 1973+, but that suspension has a wider track. How does this affect tire/wheel size?

The 1970 sway bar is attached closer to the wheel (outside of the strut rod) compared to the 73+ suspension (inside of the strut). Will this affect tire/wheel size?

Will an aftermarket coil over K-frame suspension (no strut rods) affect tire/wheel size?

What is the track width of the aftermarket K-frame suspensions (torsion bar or coil over)? Are they using the 70/71 track width or the 73+?

I read that the 1972 fenders have larger openings and should reduce the risk of rubbing? Does it allow bigger tires than the 70/71 fenders? Is it worth the work to graft on the 70/71 marker lights?

I really like the 1970 style rally wheels. I was thinking about 15-inch wheels with a 50 or 60 series tire.

I'm at the stage where I want to map out all the elements of the build before I start wrenching.

Thanks

215R70-14 fits the front with sufficient clearances. The bulge of the tire is close to the upper back joint, but the fenders don't rub anywhere.

The largest most people run on all 4 corners would be 235/60R15 on a 15x7. This will be real tight. A 225/60R15 should fit comfortably all around on 15x7 with 4.25” or so of backspace.

A 235/60/15 tire is about 26 inches in diameter. Is that the largest diameter that will fit without rubbing the fenders? Where do larger diameters make contact? Does the 1972 dart fender allow for a larger diameter tire?

out back the 1/4 lip or trim is the most limiting factor with "stock" set ups.

i know you can go taller, but i don't know what available size wise-- and in a matching set, if that's something that is important to you-- things get a little dicey in 15"

from a purely "we *know* this fits" 235 60 on a 6~7" rim with 4.25 BS will fit out back

up front, the limiting factor is the leading edge of the fender and if you're much lower than stock height the upper fender lip/trim will foul at turn in.

with the right combo of components 15" 245's will fit all the way around.

Will the 235 60 15x7 tire/ wheel combo work with the 73+ front suspension and a 1970 style front clip?
