been listening to traditional Christmas music for a couple of months now and decided to change it up tonight. I played Robert Earl Keenes "Merry Christmas from the family" and then Dan Hicks "somebody stole my Santa suit" now I'm looking for some more. What's your favorite non traditional Christmas song?

Well, discounting hymns which I think would rule out "traditional" songs.
I like The Kinks sentiment in this.
Ray Davis pretty much knocks it out of the park.

Slade "Merry Christmas" and Roy Wood's "I wish every day was Christmas" always get big rotation in England.
It's not Christmas with out "Tommy" buy the Who.
Foghat did Run Run Rudolf. I think that qualifies as non-traditional?
Cover's don't get any better than that.

You know that Tull has a whole "Christmas" album.
Just put that on.

Or Canned Heat's album.

My favorite Christmas song has always been "Christmas is a Birthday" from Burl Ives!!

"I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas ". You have heard it on commercials this year.I can post a link as soon as I get my tablet set up. Mom bought a 78 rpm record back in the early 60s when the song came out. "Are My Ears on straight" was on the flip side.

Check out the post "Something Beautiful for Christmas". You'll be glad you did.

Check out ''Grandma got run over by a reindeer'' by The Rovers.
It's hilarious.
