Damn, my wife had a nail in her van tire. I pump it up with air, i tell her i cannot get it patched during the week as everythings closed when i get home, plus i can never get the van from her to fix it. I give her $20, tell her to go to the local flats fix place and have it patched.

Well a week and a half goes by with nothing more said about the tire until this morning she tells me her tire is flat. I'm like what the ****?!? I tell her why the hell didnt you get it fixed. She tells me a story about getting caught up on christmas shopping, and having to use the money for gas. I tell her, without a round tire you aint doing any christmas shopping. Heres the thing, if she told me hey, i had to use it for gas, i would have given her another $20 to fix it.

So here i am in freezing rain pulling the tire off, and hunting around for a shop that can patch it on a saturday morning. She gets nails all the freakin time. Its like her van is a fuckin nail magnet.

I had a bunch o **** i was planning on doing today, but this just soured my mood. I ******* hate weekends. Kids home fighting and whining about stupid ****, pissing us all off, and its raining and freezing cold so we all are stuck inside together.

TITS or TIRES, Sheesh. If its got either, your gonna have trouble.

Throw computers in there too! I get started on my Saturday project and when I comeback into the house for a tape measure, the wife says "my Laptop doesn't get the Internet any more". So a quick check shows an internal error and restarting it twice doesn't fix it. It won't detect any of the several wifi nets in the house. I reset to a previous state and that doesn't fix it. Now do I do my project or spend the rest of the day trouble shooting her computer? Well thank God that I urged her to buy a backup laptop and she switched to that while I went back to my project. Gotta love'm!

Sounds like it might be good to get of the house for a tire shop visit.
I would probably see if the wife cares to join me in cussing the careless construction guys that allow the nails to bounce out of their pickups. She may need a laugh also.
Hell let the kids join in too.

I know I'll get some disagreement about this, but I'd just plug it myself. I've done several over the years, with no problem.

Well, tires fixed, and i got my fireplace flue cleaned out. Had birds trying to live in it this past summer, cleaned out the old ashes too
. I think my wife probably knew i was pissed, as she loaded up the 3 youngest and took them to chuckie cheese to see the rat and play some games. Our oldest used to work there and had a bag full of tokens for the games. I am home alone, peace and quiet, my dog at my feet licking her paws. What ever shall i do. I think i will enjoy the little bliss i will have for awhile.

Middle 2 are both girls 8 and 9. They argue and ***** A LOT about the stupidist ****. Must be a female thing. Maybe i will hang out until i hear the garage door opening, then i will head out to lowes, to check out their new stuff. Heaven forbid i work out in my shop on weekends and leave the little heathens for my wife to deal with.

yup ...nailed it ......its a female thing. Which is why in the same time a lot of guys talk ****, I would have had the tire fixed.

I just plug them ....I have done too many too count with no problem. Half the time you don't even have to take the tire off if you know where the nail is and can get a clean shot at it......but then you might get dirty from rolling on da wittle floor wike a wittle piggy in a bwanket.:laughing::laughing: :thebirdm:

Never had good luck with a tire plugger. Prefer to have a patch vulcanized on the inside.

haha ...I was just joshin you about the other stuff but whether you plug, patch or whatever. Sounds to me like your problem is like old saying goes: "if you want something done right, then you have to do it yourself"

I never rely on anyone to fix my stuff ...it will never get done or I will have to re-do it anyways.

Getting "caught up" is just an excuse, she didn't want to do it. Because to her you're the guy in the white suit who comes out when the bell dings to fix stuff like.

ITS NOT a female thing, just some females are half assed.

then you need to be careful where you take it.....I know for a fact that most dealers and tire stops will plug it.

they will take your 20 bucks and stuff a plug in it and figure they will never see you again.

Most places around here stay away from the plugs, and demount the tire and patch it. The one specific place i use only patches. No plugs. They charge $10, and about 15 minutes and your on your way. Since i work monday through friday till 3:30 with weekends off i only have a small window from 4 pm till 5 pm to do this for her, and when i get home, she is never there as she is running the kids wherever they need to go.

I used to work 10 hour days, 4 days a week, so i had at least 1 day during the week to get **** done. Job change more money, more responsibility, 8 hour days 5 days a week, off saturday and sunday. I love what i do for a living now dont get me wrong, but it would be nice having a day off during the week to get things done.

This is why i asked her if she could take care of it during her travels in the day. Its where i would have taken the van anyway if i had been able to get the keys from her to go do it.

I am thinking at some point of stepping down from the job position i am in, and going back to 4 days a week, maybe with tuesday, wednesday, thursday off.

if your asking what i do for a living, here it is,

Aircraft maintenance mechanic crew chief. I run a sheetmetal structures back shop, where we repair engine cowlings, inlets, thrust reversers, wing leading edges, entrance and service door structures, and recently we refurbish or replace the pilots thick laminated acryllic side windows in their removable frames. I also run a training program in this same shop to train people to do aircraft sheetmetal structural repairs.

People are hand picked or selected off the maintenance docklines based on many criterion including ability to follow instructions.

The job can be high pressure at times, since all the parts coming in and going out are on a deadline. I dont let students touch a "live part" our jargon for an aircraft part that will be made servicable and flown out until they show proficency on scrap parts we use for training.

I tell all my students, when you drill a hole in an aircraft, you cant undrill it. Aircraft structures sheetmetal can be very unforgiving if you do not take the time to think out repairs. Measure, measure, and remeasure before you drill even the first hole. And always look on the other side of where your drilling. I have seen drill bits run through wire bundles in aircraft, when it only takes seconds to clip zip ties displace wire bundles and put a piece of metal between the bundle and where your drilling to get them out of the way, and prevent damage.

Lots of stuff i do throughout the day. I wear many hats. I am a crewchief, parts orderer, scheduler, politician, and instructor.

My wife asked me to fill her tire 3 times in the last month. Each time I checked for a nail and found none. I thought it might be the bead leaking, as I have had this issue with corrosion on my aluminum wheels. I normally I would plug it if it was a clean nail puncture. I told her to take it up the street and get it checked. first time they did not find it. She went back a few days later and they found a screw. She calls me up all happy they fixed it and proceeds to tell me it was my fault and I need to be more care ful with screws in the driveway. Huh?
I told her to get the screw from them. It was a self drilling screw, maybe #6. Sorry, but I don't believe I even have any like it and definitly was not using them in the driveway. Couldn it possibly come from somewhere else on the planet? Lol
