First of all, let me say that I like HarborFreight. I go there a lot, and I think they have pretty good stuff. I was there grabbing a few things the other day and I noticed a very nice eight drawer tool chest with a sign on it that said, if I remember right, $179. Not just one sign, but two separate signs. In the fine print on the sign it said one drawer rolling workbench. There was a lady stocking in the next aisle so I went to get her. I asked her to come and look at something. I told her you might want to fix that sign before somebody goes upfront screaming and yelling and demanding that cart for $179. She told me that corporate office told them to put that sign on that Tool test. I said OK. I used to work retail, and I will guarantee you that somebody will be upfront screaming yelling and demanding that cart for $179.

In pa. The price displayed is the price they have to sell it. For.
That's why I always take a picture.

I would. Kitty would. And lemmie tell ya. SHE is one FIERCE WOMAN when it comes to mismarked items. She's won EVERY battle I've ever seen regarding that. She will keep appealing to higher management until she makes it happen. There have been a time or two when the store manager even refused her. He regretted it. She went home and called corporate and laid it on um. The next day, the store manager called her and told her to come in and he'd honor the price. ...and as a matter of fact, it was on a TOOLBOX at Harbor Freight. I had told her I wanted her to have one ALL HERS for all her inside tools and such and she found a deal on one. ...well she liked it cause it was orange. I'm tellin yall here and now. I gotta woman that don't play all dat chit. lol

one drawer rolling workbench

Now you’ve got me curious, so what was/is the alternate price you understand should be on the sign?

Also you say it was intentionally mismarked, as part of your experience did they confirm that they are charging more for it than displayed?

I am also of the mind that items should be sold at the displayed price, and have had some go my way, and others not so much.

Giant Eagle used to have a policy if an item was priced wrong, or sale tag left on past the end date, it was free. We benefitted a number of times on that one.....now they just honor the sale price as such.

1. The correct price for the 8 drawer tool chest was $329.
2. The lady that was stocking in the next aisle came over to look at it, and she definitely confirmed that They were directed by corporate to put that sign on that tool chest.
3. I agree with things being sold for the displayed price. If it was a small difference, I would consider demanding the displayed price, but since the price difference is so large, I'll let it ride. Now that being said, I totally support anybody who holds their feet to the fire and gets it for $179. Maybe that will teach them a lesson.

I haven't been in a harbor freight store in year's, mainly because I wasn't impressed with the quality of their tools. Has their quality improved?

They basically now have multiple tiers of quality. Their cheap stuff is basically “good enough to get the job done but you won’t like working with it.” Plenty in the junk low tier and is stuff I buy if I just need to use it on rare occasion. The mid tier is like maybe similar to today’s foreign made Craftsman. But cheaper. Then they have a professional line on many things that they market to compete with Snap On Milwaukee Makita etc but for much less. Typically anything I buy there is in the mid tier but that’s me.

As I recall, when those chests first came out ( maybe 10 years ago???) they were about $179.00. I purchased three of them to use as gifts for my kids. My recollection is that the total, for all three, was about $550.00.
I thought that was a steal for 3 chests, and the quality was excellent.

As a 30 year veteran in the MAC Tool business, I would say yes overall. You have to watch what you buy but the quality has improved.

In the mid 70's I went into Sears to buy a table saw with stand and when I got there, they said the stand was extra. Well, the ad says with stand. The sales slacker tried to argue so I just said 'go get the manager' and he still tried to argue. Looked him the eye and repeated 'go...get....the....manager. Manager showed up and said "that's a misprint" and well, I said ok but still want the stand like the misprint says the comes with. Got it.

Being a mechanic for 52 years, my 1st toolbox was Snap On. It was 1 of those top boxes, that if you opened all 4 drawers at once it fell over/off the bench. I upgraded over the years to Mac, Matco, Sears and a few others. I always had decent toolboxes at home also. I had bought a few HF boxes for at home, as I added tools. When I retired, and brought my work boxes home, I sold all the big name boxes and tools. I now have 13 HF boxes, tops and bottoms and love them. Quality as good as any. Today there is a coupon for 20% off anything. Might have to have another 1.

Number 1 rule tool box rule is not to have all the drawers open at the same time!

what is this nonsense? y'all don't have automatic return springs to close the drawers on your boxes?

their icon line of hand tools is not bad at all-- the pliers are basically knock off snappy or knipex, screwdrivers give the feel of old school craftsman pro series with the red/black handles, the wrenches & sockets a definitely a step above craftsman but not quite as finished as snap & mac

but those icon ratchets? thems is for the birds. all their hoopla of 1,345 tooth mechanism, blah blah blah swing, yada yada yada, is all total and utter horse ****. they sell them on "feel" to weekend warriors-- ohhh check out the action! so smooth! i have yet to experience one that lasts more than 6mo before it gets all clunky and skippy. and that's not even with everyday use!

save your gold doubloons and get snap or mac on the ratchet and ride.

yes, very much so. but like others have said, you gotta buy smart. there's still a bunch of crap there.

i'd say you could get a good deal on a box and hand tools, but you won't need any of that seeing as you don't have a car to work on. ;D

A while back, wally world had the big bottles of REAL Baileys miss-marked in both local stores. 750ml was $22, 1750ml was $25.
I bought all the stock that was on the shelves in both stores.
The GF ordered some on line, got three (I think) delivered by a store employee. Delivery person remarked on the price.
I never did see anymore on the shelf till they fixed the price.
I found out later the delivery girl went back and emptied the warehouse.

The big bottles are $60.
I buy Costco and Sam's versions, since they are both fine, in coffee. Both under $20 for 1750, compared to $25 for 750 ml baileys.

You probably don't know him, but our Mac tool dealer was Lee Jones, l might be wrong with his last name as it's been years ago. I'm glad that the quality has improved.
