TTI does not mention any interference problems with the transmission lines but my original hard lines look like they will need to be tweaked ('72/340). The radiator end of my lines were cut so I am replacing them. Unfortunately, the engine is out of the car so I can't test-fit them. I am wondering if I can order some repops from Classic Industries and make them work or if I should bend new lines?

I thought the area was tight and the original bend won’t work, maybe they’ll ‘just’ fit but the lines will be touching or right near a hot header (beside the oil pan of the trans there is very little clearance from the header and the rear line especially).

I made my own and did it when it was in the car. Not easy.
If you’re able or haven’t gotten there yet I’d suggest doing it with the motor and trans out of the car, bolted together, on the floor.

I ended up making the bend out of the transmission straight forward and slightly up to the front of the car, over the top (higher) than the kick down lever and band adjuster, then angled slightly down towards the oil pan, then a bend down to get below the block to be beside the oil pan towards the front as normal.

good luck

I think that is what I am going to do. Where did you find a long enough piece of 5/16" steel tubing for the rear line? I think it needs to be around 7 feet.

25’ roll. You can straighten it amazingly well if you just unroll and straighten as you go, helps to have an extra set of hands to hold an end as you gradually unroll the big part away from the helper. Or you can use a straightening tool.

The last few cars I've done, I ran the transmission lines up the inside of the drivers side frame rail, behind the steering box. I used steel braided lines for a flex point from the transmission fittings over to the hard lines on the frame rail. I installed bulkhead fittings in the radiator support, down low below the battery tray. Then on the front side of the radiator support, I plumbed the hard lines over to a trans cooler with 6AN fittings. I just bypassed and plugged the trans cooler in the bottom of the radiator. I used the clamps with the rubber bushings in them to mount the lines to the frame rails, one screw for 2 clamps turned opposite each other. Works slicker'n cat poop on linoleum and gets the lines out of the header zone....and out of the way of starter changes should the need arise. Just an alternate idea, in case you'd be open to something like that.
