anybody got a picture of whatever tool is necessary to get the windshield trim off?? the tool i have does not seem right to me.

I googled the tool I bought at Advanced auto. It is the first picture with the red handle. http://www.buickperformance.com/glassremove.htm

Good luck. Mine was glued in. I had a glass guy come out to remove the trim and the glass. Cost $85 and took the guy about 1.5/2 hours. Though, he didn't ruin the trim!

Good luck!

i think there is thread on here where someone made one and it worked
i will search to see what i can find

i made one like the last one from alleyoop but cutting up a left over piece of donor hood sheet metal and tape for the handle. it is strong enough and tin snips are all the you.

I don't use a tool. I use a thin spring steel paint scraper. I slide it between the trim and the edge of the body until I contact a clip, then I bend the trim and clip forward while gently working the trim up with my other hand. Eventually you will bend the clip far enough to pop the trim up. I just move on to the next and do the same thing. I've learned not to trust my ability with those tools, and the day I tossed mine... I stopped damaging trim and paint.

i heard a bottle opener works really good to but.. were do you gwt onw of those tools can i go to an autoparts store and pick one up?

I THINK A BOTTLE OPENER WILL RUIN YOUR TRIM. althou it may work for the drip rail trim. I have the one that 3404speed. i just went to auto parts store and most good ones will have them in stock. It still takes a bit to get off the old glue from the windshield. have fun.

ya thats what im talking about the drip rail not the side stuff or window trim

The red handled one is a KD2038. They still make it and your cost is $13.99
The gold anodized one is a MR215A and your cost is $9.99. I would have to order the red one but I keep the MR215a on the truck. toolmanmike

71dodge. if you are taking off the drip rail trim you will need something totally different. the trim is just pressed on over the drip rail. What you want is a piece of wood about 1/4 or less inch thick about 1 wide and long enough to grab and twist. With the door open wedge the wood between the drip trim and the window chanel. then just twist the wood.

I hope this makes since. I think there is a tread with pics here but can't find it now.
