You could cut up an old all season tire and glue it on the shoe. Just think of the stopping power.Come to think of it my rear brake shoes need replacing, do ya think I could use baked Potatoe skins? With enough time and effort, I bet it would.
Turn a small drill press into a Bore/ Hone. Bolt it to the top of your engine block & do your own machining .

We did those in car bore jobs at the gas station I worked at in high school...ground cranks in situ, too.

Maybe Stock pistons redrilled piston pins. Moved up. Fill old holes with JB Weld.
Use his hack saw to cut skirts off. Balance with postal scale?
