Unity Motorsports Doing their 318 Project!

Wait a second, in the other thread about nicks garage bumbfuckin their way through a 6 pack efi setup you jump right on board with the bashing. But here you knock us for telling the truth? Don’t you consider Nick a “mopar guy”? You should post MORE **** not less because last I remember you know how to do this stuff and don’t just blab about it.
......and I thank you for the kind words. I'm fraid not everyone feels the same way.

Obviously someone can't handle the truth. Since you are apparently not a paying member which supports this forum I guess you believe your opinion is so valuable that you are entitled to put others down. No problem, if you don't like what you read from me or others then ignore us and move on with your life. Your expertise *could* be very valuable to folks but you've cheapened it by frequently wrapping it with a layer of insults that serve no useful purpose.

It doesn’t have to make sense but it needs to have a purpose don’t you think?
I think Tony's name can be dropped from this build as he has opted out 1.5 years ago, long before this project grew legs. However, he does have "mission improbable" happening and it's a Jeep he's been racing so that could be a thread!

:steering:
LOL....

I think the purpose is to "see what it does". And that is a purpose. Nobody is saying this is the most cost-effective way to build an engine. I've not heard anyone recommend people build the way they are building this. It's just more about the "trial and error- fun to see". Maybe it's for views, I don't know.. lol (and that is a purpose too). I think Tony's name can be dropped from this build as he has opted out 1.5 years ago.

I’ll ask you because I know I’ll get an HONEST answer from a guy who actually tests **** and learns from it.

How many hp do you think all the crank and rod modifications Vizard showed would be in the real world, with guys who have a maximum rpm of 6500? And I’m being generous with that.

And, I’ll add that would be with a decent carb and intake so we take out the variable of the induction limiting power.

I know they "reduced weight on the rods". I'm not even sure what they did to the crank, because I forgot. Maybe if the rods are off balanced, they lost HP. Who knows. I can't give a quote, other than lighter rods they hope to rev quicker. Did they grind a offset in the crank?? Can't remember

“If we drag it out long enough, maybe no one will remember the original premise for the build”
And now look at all these new edelbrock parts that were donated.....dont worry about the 100 man hours of R&D that were wasted porting 2 barrel iron intakes and such nonsense.

I'll be watching, and really want to see the tunnel ram version of it. I hope they run a decent cam and carbs.

Me too. And he says they will be trying an LD4B, LD340 and RPM AirGap. Really interested in seeing the difference between those three intakes.
I really wish they'd put it in a vehicle and let it make passes at a track!

Vizard showed some nonsense crank profiling of the crank and then he guaranteed some stupid HP gain, never giving any information of how he validated his findings.

I can tell you under 7k weight is generally and I say GENERALLY a huge non factor. If you are running a 11 inch converter (I forget what those things weigh but I know it’s over 30 pounds) or a 30 pound flywheel you can gain far more with a smaller converter or an aluminum flywheel than you’ll ever gain from the crapola he did to the crank.

That’s not an opinion, that’s the fact.

For the record, I turned most of my crank counterweights down to the rod throws.

Then I used Mallory to balance them.

At 8500 it matters.

I would never ever do that under 8k. Never. The work and cost is not worth it.

Sadly, guys with little to no knowledge or experience buy into that comic book **** Vizard and UT put out there and when you tear down their brazen alter they loose their cookies.

It’s sad really.

So the truth is, I watched all of Vizard’s videos he produced for this deal before UT crapped the bed and dumped that pile of steaming monkey dung on Vizard and Wood.

I feel bad for them but when you lay down with dogs you get fleas.

Except with my dogs. My dogs are a giant PITA but they don’t have fleas.

it might pick up a couple of tenths over the Mixed up Boss.... +

Don’t forget, Mixed Up Boss got its *** handed to it by a third rate clapped out hoopty called Bottle Rocket so it shouldn’t be hard to out do that engine with a competently built 273.

I have been wondering how many tenths it will cost casper going from the c4 to the OD transmission..

If the converter is the same, I wouldn't be surprised if he lost 2 tenths in a 1/4 mile. But to be fair, Andy does drive it on some long rendezvous.... so I'm sure to him it will be worth it

I enjoy Nicks garage. I enjoy seeing the dyno numbers. I also enjoy his last minute tweaks to get the numbers. The wife walked in a year or so back and said" I don't get why you are watching this guy rev an engine for an hour or two..."

  The machine shop isn't too far from my son's house. I can hear the engines screaming on the dyno and want to stop by. Can't say no to that.

As a 318 enthusiast i would love to see more build videos... And i don't like UTG at all.. but he did get railroaded and jumped out... nothing wrong with that when other people took over and changed ****

You should see what a real tuner goes through when trying to pull power out of an engine on a dyno. Look up Steve Morris’ big black hemi and the series of videos he did with it. I think that engine was on the dyno for 3 months.

That’ll get you started
