Update On Gladys...

You don't happen to have the cam specs on that Crane Fireball cam, do you? I had one in my 340 when I bought it. Lots of duration, lesser lift, but damn-did it run good!
Yup. .505/.515 228/232 @ .050 ground on a 108. It has more lift than the Mopar counterparts, because of the 1.73 rocker ratio.

That's not Gladys. I was giving that picture as an example of a Super Camper Special. Here's Gladys.

I still love it. Everybody wants the 67-72 (+/-) Chevy trucks, But like jimjimjimmy said. these ford trucks are the best. I am
a Mopar guy, but if I was going to buy an old truck, It would probably be one just like Gladys.

68 to 79 Ford F series trucks , Best ever made .
Totally agree.

They should have never discontinued the twin I beam suspension, IMO. It is very stout.

Glad you got her going again. When you get used to having a truck that you use, it's hard to do without one. There used to be a guy who worked at the grocery store where I worked as a kid that had one of those F250 Super Camper Special's. Oddly enough, it was the same color as that one you posted above. The guys name was Joe Strange.....we called him Strange Joe, lol.

Typical bean counter move. lol
That is how we got side reflectors in 1969 on Mopars. in 1968 the government mandated lights on the side. Chrysler found a loophole in the law and came out with reflectors in 1969. Chrysler saved several dollars per car that year. The government shut that loophole down and Chrysler went back to lights in 1970. I read that in a Mopar magazine several years ago.

That sounds about right, too.

Aight den, so one thing I did this time that I did not elude to. When I assembled it this time, I degreed the cam and it was right on the money from where it was three years ago when I originally assembled it. Amazingly it originally wheeled dead right dot to dot at 104 ICL, which is what the Crane card said. This time though, I put the crank sprocket on the 4 degree advanced keyway and wheeled it again......perfect. 100 ICL right where it should have been. So that's how it got assembled this time. I actually got into a little spark knock at first, and backed the initial down to 18 from 23 and ALSO put the distributor vacuum can back on ported from manifold vacuum. it has about 36 total in by about 3200. I think the old girl runs better than it ever has now. It sure sounds good. She protested a little when I stabbed it, because she was still cold, but none of that nonsense when she's warmed up.
