Leaving from Philadelphia Navy Yard today for Texas to be Dismantling.

I'm thinkin after I looked it up "Gosh, it was only commissioned in 1968" but then that WAS almost 60 years ago. Sure doesn't seem that long ago.

I did many an UNREP with her in the Med 91-93 while aboard Sylvania. Oddly, never did a single Nimitz. Always UNREPd with JFK, Sara, or America.
Sad end to an era...

The aircraft carrier heading to Brownsville, TX, is CV-67 USS John F. Kennedy. She was the last conventionally powered aircraft carrier built for the U.S. Navy.

The new CVN-79 USS John F. Kennedy will be the second Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier and is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy this year.
