I don't know if this forum crowd is very old, I thought it would be a nice to share some pics of "vintage pics" If this doesn't fit the forum please delete.

Thank you for reminding us of times that had spirit and when things weren't disposable.

When Woolworth's went under was when I felt an era had passed.

Digging through old family photos and figured I'd post any that had old vehicles:

These all feature my Uncle Abb (Grandpa's Brother)

Uncle Gordon (Grandpa's Brother):

My Grandfather's car after he rolled it. There were 6 people inside and my grandfather had the only injury, a broken elbow. The place the car crashed to this day is STILL called Jake's Elbow.

Regarding Uncle Abb and the one picture of him and his Nascar (1977):

In the same newspaper as the above article, there is an article about how Vandals destroyed the Quesnel Drag strip and they never recovered from the loss and closed down forever that year.

1978:

Back in 1974, before the Nascar:

Man those pictures make a person feel good!! Also makes me wish I had grown up in a more simple time, thanks

To have any of those cars in that condition would make someone very rich

some of the pictures look like about the time I was born, wow so that's what the city looked like back in the day, Picture #6 and the lady beside the Gray hound bus about 1958.
Thank you for some great stories and pictures Oldkid.

There are a number of these photos I'd like to be able to step into and go back to that time. Very cool post.

X2, they bring back a lot of pleasant memories. I would like to ask questions about several of them, though. Very interesting. How about that cage on the 333 car? Isn't it a 55 Ford? Is it running straight out of the exhaust manifold that was the old crossover the front type?
What is on top of that car that is on the bed of that truck? :toothy7:

I don't know too much about my Uncle Gordon's car. Luckily he's the last one left alive of the 5 brothers so if I can get the chance I'll ask him about the car.

As for the car on the bed of the truck. On top was mounted a box to carry all your items in. When you went to town back in those days you'd generally have a car filled with people since you might only get into town once a month IF you're lucky. So items like groceries, tools, parts, etc would be in the trunk and up on the roof for the ride back.

Same as the roof baskets you can buy now except in those days you made your own out of what you had available.

Those are great!

I'm 64 years young and yes, those bring back a great time in history.

Some times I wish I could go back. Lot less stress back then.
