It's like a disease and it spreads quickly.

If it can't be taken apart and put back together in a weekend don't do it!

( exception is if you need to take a part off and have it rebuilt, etc.)

A little late for that lol. So far it’s gone really well and I’m having a great time. It’s going to look awesome.

I went to change the spark plugs in my swinger. The next day it was a bare shell on the rotisserie.

Here we go...

68 mustang coupe, perfect 1 owner condition.

Needed engine rebuilt...

I pulled the engine, and trans,

Then decided with the engine out wound be a good time to detail the engine compartment.

Took it to a body shop for blasting and paint.

A few weeks later got it home.

They painted it alright with 2 part paint.
They blasted it alright.

Only problem was they did not plug up any of the holes in the firewall from the heater and other items that pass through the fire that I had removed.

Sand all over the inside of the car.

So that lead to removal of the interior,

Which led to the removal of the doors and trunk...

You all get the point...

After 5 years of the parts in a paid storage unit, and the carcass under a car cover on my parents driveway, it was parted out,

I never even drove it!

To add insult to injury, the 2 part paint in the engine bay never cured, years later if you left a wrench on the paint for more than a minute there was a distinct snap sound as you lifted it up.

Put the gauges in the repop dash. It’s got chrome where it shouldn’t but it’s pretty. I’ll probably be eventually looking for a good NOS dash to restore. The original was very far gone and broken.

Been there....done that! :) If it makes you feel any better, your deck boards are really nice and the gaps are perfect all the way across!
It’s the little things.

Me: "Barry (Bazza), I'll get your car running for you while you're in the hospital." (Piece of cake, right?)

But then came the broken bolts in the engine...

And the bad timing chain...

And the slipped harmonic balancer...

And the distributor rebuild...

And the gas tank sending unit...

And the hole in the trunk...

And the new fuel lines...

And the rear springs....

And the front suspension...

And the cracked frame...

And...and...and...

(Y'all know what I'm talking about.)

It's a slippery slope.

Yup. I doubt there's a single member here that doesn't know about mission creep. Make mine a double on that one, bartender!

Welp got it to the point I can drive it. All the dash parts sent for refinishing. Radio sent for modernizing.

I guess I’m doing the interior this winter.
