Kept my 14 year old out of school on monday to get the first fishing trip of the year in. We went to Fenton Lake state park in New Mexico. It was kinda cloudy on the way up(up is 7000ft). Just as we rounded the corner to the lake the rain started, then turned to snow, then quit after we got completely soaked. Sun came out warmed up a little, then 20-25mph winds.......First cast my son made he landed a tree fish, I was watching from the car and had to laugh at the scene. Man we froze our asses off almost all day. He caught one small rainbow and me , I caught 3 small ones too. Set them all loose to grow up. After 8hrs of misery we finally gave in to the elements.
First thing my son asks me is" when are we coming back?" I think he enjoyed the trip even though it ws less than perfect. Just wanted to share a great time we had. I'm sure he will remember it for life.

A bad day fishing beats (put your own words here!). Nope, he'll never forget it.

Like ramcharger and the saying says; "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work" (or school).

Like I have always said "A bad day of fishing is better then not fishing at all".
Good job 63dartman your son sounds like a fiherman
"when are we going back" :love4:
Here in Arkansas we call a tree fish a "Limb brim" and when one gets away or spits the hook I call that "LDR"= Long distants release. :headbang:

You are a Good Dad :coffee2:

Mike,
Never heard "LDR" before, that's great! LOL! I'll have to use that next time I lose one. When we get hooked in the weeds, we call it a "Grass Bass".

A grass bass LOL!! :toothy7:
New one for me. Thanks :headbang:

I'll have to remember the LDR.....that's funny!! Yeah, he doesn't have much fishing under his belt. I'm going to try and change that this summer. I just picked up a truck camper that we have been fixing up. I will post some picks of the work soon. It is a 1971 coachmen t/c on my 3/4 dodge ram. It was in bad shape and needed new ceilings and roof repair, new window seals, paint and a bunch of little stuff. It actually looks presentable now.
