I like the Crower 267HDP split pattern or 260HDP. or any of the other grinds the other members recommended , all good !
a6pack is great AAR T?A. carb 340 can and will take size stsrt at 750 780 even 800; that is where u will see most performance. on cams keep short duration 4 area lift as 440 430 . I have run in a 68 dart a 527 lift 300 duration wwith a eldo intake hooker headers. and came out my drive and had my kids tell me lft front wheel off street with 430 gears. o but get a big carb. w auto stall. converter. 4spd and in town 430 will get you 50 mph and fun. thank you!Charles, what camshaft do you recommend for the OP's 340. Thank You !
How bout the 1968 340 4 speed purple shaft cam.
Personally, I'd throw the Comp XE268H in and call it a day.
Are you saying the 68 340 4 speed cam wasn't a Mopar Performance purple shaft cam ?
Not sure what you are saying.
Gas mileage concerns?
I like that dang MP split duration grind. “761” 228/231-.450/.455 or something like that.
If you can’t find that cheap, that’s about the duration I’d be looking at. Stock /.02 heads, that falls right in there just fine.
Camshafts are like women, you throw that age old question out at the "Bench" and you will get 14 different answers. Everyone of us have our version of perfect. Tall short, skinny or hefty, Red head or brunette (no blonds) rich or poor. RRR first response is still a pretty darn good choice. As are many of the others. In the end it is your money and your car, every choice provided has merit. Build it and have a blast!
