Stock 63 dart 7 1/4 what gears are in it automatic /6
what was any options

Both My '64 GT's came w/2.94's, drop top is a 3-on-the-tree, coupe is a pushbutton 904........both 225's...........
Did You mean optional in that year only? Or optional for the 7.25 in general?

I have a 64 Dart rear end that I got out of a 64 4-door 3-on-the-tree that had a three speed and 3.23 rear end.

7 1/4 in general
The carrier break is 2.47/2.76, I've not seen 2.47's, slantsixdan's voluminous parts catalogs may show them. Assuming they exist then;
2.47
2.76
2.94
3.23
3.55
3.90
4.11
This includes the Dakota IFS frt. axle application.

Direct Conection had performance 7 1/4 gears in 4.56, 4.88, 5.13

Try to imagine the early car that runs a 4.88 in a 7.25! I mean you know those wheelhouses won't handle any real tires. So, I wonder what DC's thinking was, when they geared up to produce something like that?Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Back in the "old days", stock eliminator rules required the original rear axle assy. The 8 3/4 did not become available in the "A" bodies, untill 1966. So they needed the gears for the 7 1/4 to be competitive. I ran a 65 Valiant with a 170 slant in Z/SA during the mid '70's, but I chose a 3.91 SG with a 8x22x13 tire. I do have a 7 1/4 LBP 5.13 SG rear in my shop.

Do you still have that sure grip ? And would you sell it ?

Boy, this is an old thread. Actually, I do have that particular SG unit. I am doing a complete rebuild of the complete rear assy. It is a large bolt pattern "A" body 7 1/4.
I removed the 5.13's, and am installing a new set of 3.91's. Every other part is new, also, except for the spider cross shafts, and actual rear castings.
I don't think you would want to pay, what I have in this rear.

Well, just to add my two cents to this old thread:

Rear gears in my 63 Valiant, factory 225 with Torqueflite, are 2.93. My old 65 Valiant 170/3-speed manual was 3.23.

This is an oversimplification, but generally, early A 7 1/4's are 2.93 (2.94) or 3.23. Later A's, 2.76's were probably the most common.
