What happened to mineral oils?

Has anyone else noticed that it’s becoming impossible to find standard mineral based engine oil?
I’ve never used the synthetic stuff but now unless you’re getting the high mileage or some break-in oil, you have to at least get the “synthetic blend”.
The Valvoline VR1 is the only thing I’ve seen lately that’s mineral based.

Exactly. Syn oil does everything 'better' than mineral oil.

I agree synthetic is da shizzle, but I'm still stuck in the past. I don't have any trouble finding dino oil. It's what I like to run.

Been running PEP Boys 10-30 in all my stuff for years. Even my race cars. No oiling system, or cam/lifter problems.

I don't need synthetic. My cars run forever on regular oil. Spend what you want, believe what you want.

So you don't need to add zinc to synthetic oil anymore?

If it’s an engine oil it must have zinc. Otherwise it not an engine oil.
