What have I gotten myself into?

I doubt anyone here will be disappointed with canning the chop. (You can put the can-opener away LOL).

I was considering the suggestion but did not want to be a downer.
Turn it up and rock on with your awesome project.

Band in question. Guitar player Stephen Egerton is a huge European car guy. Talked to him at length about it a few years ago. If I ever win the lotto I want to build him an MG with an Srt4 motor.

im a real big fan of the build. It can be overwhelming but ive noticed you take the necessary time to look back and reflect on how far you have come. IMO that will help keep you going. I also think that once you stop looking at filler and get it all in one color your motivation and desire to finish up will get a kickstart as well. keep up the good work and dont get discouraged. a lot of people would kill for that car when its done.

Thanks, running on the tight budget I had been running on limited most of my progress for a while but I'm glad I said screw it and decided to just finish it.

I know you didn't ask and it's probably none of my business but I would vote
for no chop......even if it was easy and the money was of no concern.

It's that line-in-the-sand thing between hard core performance and hard core
**** (custom). Kustom's Kool but I'll take performance every time.

it looks like a tuffy........anybody got a POS to practice/mock-up/trial chop. Once the cuttin starts,it is hard to turn back....and you have done a ton of mods already

we are a lot of help.... huh?

I'm not gonna do it twice. If I mess it up I could always make it a roadster

Here is a similar tail light set up as you are doing. They made theirs like the 70 Roadrunner tails:

I would vote for no chop I think the car looks great with the top at original height.

I had looked at several modified tail light set ups for months and in my head I tried many. The poison dart had that same roadrunner style tail light. That picture doesnt look Luke the poison dart though. I decided on my lights off a whim and really just like every other mod on my car it's hand built and were done several times before I settled into this set up. I can't wait to show you guys the pictures in going to take in the morning.

I already stared body working the drip rails have no fear the top stays at stock height. The windows are getting special treatment though.

That is exactly what these cars need (the trimless gaskets, that is). I am very interested in this mod.

I might be interested if I knew what it was :)
More welding opportunity :D

Sorta. Usually the glass has a gasket around it and then the trim goes around it. I'll be welding a shelf under where the glass would sit so the glass sits flush with the body then I will glue the glass in and use a modern style rubber moulding around the lip of the glass.

thats exactly what my plan is to do

Very appealing idea. Is the rubber molding a generic piece cut to fit?
What about the rear glass?

Yeah it's attached to the underside of the glass and has its own glue on it. I'll take pictures of it when I get to work today.
