What is the stock carb and/or p/n originally fitted to a 1969 340 Swinger 4 speed?

I have one from a '69 340 Dart 4 speed that I purchased a few years ago and it's a Carter AVS 4611SA which is the same one that my 4 speed 69 340 cuda has. My cuda is a mid year build (Feb. 69). Very early '69 build cars may have something a little different such as leftover Carter AVS carbs from '68 340's.

My reference was Hemming's Carter carb guide, so it could be somewhat lacking...

The carb on my cuda is A9 (Jan 69). This is C9 which may be March '69.

Factory Service Manual.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Carter carburetor model AVS-4711s is used on
the 383 cu. in. engine when the vehicle is equipped
with a manual transmission. The carburetor is supplied
with a dash pot which is mounted on the air
horn. The dash pot (used only on manual transmission
equipped vehicles) retards the return of the throttle
to idle position. The proper adiustment of the dash
pot is very important (See Carburetor Adjustments.)
The Carter carburetor model AVS-4616s is used on
the 383 cu. in. engine respectively, when the vehicle
is equipped with the automatic transmission. Carburetor
Models AVS-4617S and AVS-4618s are used on
the 440 cu. in. engine when the vehicles are equipped
with the manual or automatic transmissions respectively.
AVS-4611S and AVS-4612s are used on the 340
cu. in. engine when equipped with manual

4611s for 1969 340 with manual transmission. 4612s was for automatic transmission. 4639s Auto trans with AC.

Wow, that's a lot of good of good information. The car belongs to a good friend. It currently has an old Holley on it and has been sitting in a barn for 30 years. The plan is to dig it out and try to get it running. Hopefully the underside isn't too rusty. I'll try to get it running with the Holley and if everything goes well I'll start looking for a 4611SA.

By the way R4 is Bright Red
Toss a picture of it here.

I think officially Dodge calls it Charger Red but I'm no expert. It sure looks orange to me. Somewhere I have pictures of it taken back in the 80's but they are not on my computer. I'll take a picture and post it when we unearth it.

Here's a picture I found, sorry it's not the best. He also owned the GTS next to it but it is long gone.

This is my original paint R4 example. Lots of people see it as orange which I tend to agree with as it definitely has an orange hue to it. I thought dodge referred to it as "performance red" ?? I believe R4 was introduced after the start up of the 69 model year.

X9 upper door frame unknown at this time is black in colour. I'm sure your aware but just in case thought I'd mention it.
Good luck with it.

That's pretty much the same color as this Dart. I agree, sure looks orange. And yes, it does have a black interior with black upper painted doors.
