What's my 71 340 Demon Worth?

-
Thanks all for the good/bad comments. I know my cars not perfect, but I bought it that way. Here in Aus if you have an American LHD car & it's 30 years or older it can stay LHD.
When I went looking for an American muscle car I wanted something different that not many people know about here. Like all brands. Initially I wanted a big block car as they didn't make them here & I love torquey motors. I definitely didn't want a Mustang or Camaro as they're dime a dozen here, but when I saw this Dodge for sale 3 years ago at my local towns Mopar show I had to have it.
After 3 years have not seen another genuine H code Demon. They've been a couple of 318 Demons & that's it.
Going to also get a set of 15" Rallye Wheels for it also. Wife loves the Cragar's though. I'll swap them over every 6 months. Getting stuff for the Demon sucks as it all has to comes from the states so the exchange cooks me them the freight burns me. I hate it.
Ref cost, I paid $32k Aust ($24 USD), but have been offered $55k Aust ($41USD).
I absolutely love the car. It's my first Mopar. Soon I'll be spending some money on the driveline to make it go faster. I'd like to get around 400 fly wheel horse power, (300 at the rear wheels). Won't be stripping down the motor though. Just bolt on stuff, ie. carby/inlet manifold/heads/cam/doug's headers etc. I'll keep all the original stuff so it can be reversed though.
Cheers,
Glenn.

Very nice car.
I would say it's worth $25,000 to $30,000 U.S. to the right buyer.

Other than modifications stated, the other obvious incorrect things about the car are as follows.
340 emblem on scoops. (it should have no emblem.)
Wheels and tires.
Battery.
''Dodge'' emblem on front of hood is for '70 and older.
Jack slots in the front bumper.
''Peaked'' trunk lid and jack slots in rear bumper unless it's a very late in the model year build car. (Last 2 months or so)
Shifter ball.
Exhaust tips.
Side stripe too low. (Roughly 1/2'' or so)

DON'T GET ME WRONG!
I love the car as is, and would drive the car and enjoy it.
I was just stating what potential buyers might say to you to drive the price down...............

Hi Mate,
Agree with everything you stated.
Question?
What type of shifter ball is factory correct &
What type of exhaust tips are correct.

The shifter ball wood be a wood grained plastic brown ball, and if it was from California originally, the tips would be turned down.
All others had the chrome rectangular tips.
Yours are straight out, an easy fix.
I love the chrome tips myself, and they do give the car a different rumble.............

Hi Mate,
Can you still get the brown gear knobs?
Car wasn't from California when new. Ref the chrome tips, mine has chrome rectangular tips not straight out type. Am I missing something.
Cheers,
Glenn.

Yes, you can get the shift knobs in reproduction.
Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists

As for the tips, i could very well be wrong, it looked like to me in the pictures that the round tail pipes exited straight out from under the rear bumper.
My mistake!
Tom.

Not only do you have a nice car, you’re a stand up guy! Your thread asks for our opinion on what we think your car is worth and folks have provided their thoughts. You then returned the favour when asked what you paid for it. Thank you. :thankyou::thumbsup:

There are quite a few folks here who post similar threads (especially folks who freshly purchased a car and are fishing to see if they got a good deal) and NEVER respond with what they paid when asked. They either deflect in their response or never respond in the thread they created. Clearly those folks are merely fishing for attention to brag about their new ride and also think life is a one way street.
