Wheel Vintiques made in China

-
I bought a set of 15X4 steelies from @RAT ROD AL last week. I'm not sure who made them or when, but I know they aren't common. I'll look them over closely when they arrive tomorrow. Maybe I can find a maker's mark somewhere.

Those look exactly like the WV wheels on the front of my car.

Section from the dog cap mount to the barrel is larger.

Here are the rears I recently sold, 15" but made with original centers.

I don’t really have any problem with the quality. I really just want rims of the same color and shape. I talked to them in the morning and sent them pictures. The car currently has 2 year old 215/60 BFG Radial T/As on original 14x5.5 Rallyes. 6” is the minimum recommended width for the 215/60s and 7” is even better. I noticed that 15x6 and 15x7 OE style SBP wheels are now available again. Much better availability in 15” tires than 14”, especially for autocross tires.

The "1/2 inch too narrow" wouldn't bother me in the slightest. A recommendation is just that, a recommendation.

The "1/2 inch too narrow" wouldn't bother me in the slightest. A recommendation is just that, a recommendation.
1. The wider the rim, the better the tire handles, within the recommended range. If you are in a stock type autocross or racing class that limits your wheel width, the wider tire sometimes works, but not always.
2. If you get into an accident with injuries, running tires that are out of spec, or out of date, can have undesirable legal ($$$) consequences. Note that I have two friends (mechanical engineers) that do accident investigation work for lawyers. Talking about knowing your tires are out of spec and not caring on social media may not help your case either.
3. Mounting tires on too narrow of rims looks almost as bad as mounting tires on too wide of rims. I like to fill up the wheel wells.

what a shame.. i bought a custom backspace (15x7 with 4.5" backspace) set of wheels from them quite a few years ago. shame they don't offert that any longer. they were great to deal with. i called, ordered and they were here in about the time they said they would be. been on the car for many years now with no issues..

Abody Joe, are you runing sbp or bbp? Will a 15x7 with 4.50 backspace fit sbp stock 70 340 dart? Any help would be appreciated

Ive spoken with a few rim retailers about WV rims. Both said "never again".
Bullshit! I have since bought 15" sbp WV from either Jegs or Summit approx 8-10 months ago. Sold out quick, now avail again.
Just like fake news, dont believe anything you hear.

My bad. I should have been more clear. I was referring to 14" steelies. You see some 14x7 SBP in stock, let me know. LOL

Not "your bad" Rob, I either spoke or emailed a few retailers going up the food chain and they all said "NOPE" lol. Then approx 8 months later SHAZAM.

So not to highjack your thread, will 15x7 with 4.25 bs fit sbp upfront, and what size tire recommend. I'm have 14x5.5 with 205/70 on it now

i'm not sure what backspace works on small bolt but i have 225/60-15 tires all the way around on our dart

Those were custom made by somebody, I'm pretty sure.
The wheels arrived today and they are brand new. If they were made by someone other than Wheel Vintiques I would be surprised. The welds look they were done by machine. These are BBP if that matters to anyone.

205/60/15 on sbp fronts. No idea on b/s, 99% sure they are 7". No way I would go bigger. Its tight on some turns.

It's plum hard to believe some get away with a 215 70 14 up front. I have 205 70 14s on the front of Vixen and the 215 would fit. ...but then, I believe the front wheel openings are a good bit different from 64 to yours, too.

They look like the ones BCI wheels.com.au sell in Australia you can buy the centres & bare rim & make your own offset i bought a cheap set of steels to get my car through licencing

I've had 3 different combos on the front.

Cragars: 14x6 3.75 bs, 215/70/14
Cragars: 14x6 3.25 bs 205/70/14
Steelies: 15x6 3.75 bs 215/65/15

The 215/70/14 and the 215/65/15 are identical in size (25.9 tall vs 26 tall, both 8.5 wide).

Both are the max size with the 3.75bs that will fit on the front of a 67-69 Barracuda, imo, without trimming the lower front section of the fender.

I'm sure yall all remember when we started having supply chain issues way back when. Remember all the container ships that were lined up off the coast of kommiefornika? Me too. It's funny too, because that was about the time I called Wheel Vintiques directly. That's DIE-WRECK-LEE. I spoke with them regarding their 14" plain steel wheels in the small bolt pattern. Know what they said? That the LAST BATCH was on one of them container ships off the coast that came from...wait for it...CHINA. They also said when those were gone, that was it. There would be no more. So I got it from the horse's mouth they were made in China that far back. If they're "somehow" made in USA "all of a sudden" it's news to me and I bet it's news to them, too.

An old friend in Ks. used to custom make such. I don't think he does anymore. Welding the rallye centers in.

If your newly bought wheel, smells like egg rolls, it was made in China!!??
