Which anti-pump up hydraulic lifters for mild camshaft?

Here's the answer I promised everyone from Oregon Cam Grinders:
"A good quality American made lifter will do just fine. Our lifters are made by Standadyne or Delphi which we have had very good luck with".

I believe some form of Johnson lifters are still being made, but in the Clinton 90's all the companies that were big enough to buy any thing they wanted became unprofitable and bought out smaller companies and flopped their debt on them. Johnson lifters was one of those companies that got slammed.

Just run Crane lifters and you will be good.

Also, regarding the snap ring thing......I generally prefer the snap ring style lifter myself......however, the wire retainer type is fine for standard, non anti pump up lifters running proper preload.

In fact, with proper preload (between .030-060) you could most likely throw the snap rings or wire retainers in the ditch and never have a problem.

Of course, that's not a theory I would test. LOL But I am willing to bet that as long as the engine was not over revved, the lifter plungers would go nowhere.

Exactly. The snap ring doesn't have load on it unless you float the valves. It won't matter what retainer you use, if you float the valves you will break the retaining ring.

I have had the wire retainer pop out on a Mopar Performance lifter before. Luckily it and the plunger stayed up top. I actually put it back together and ran it for many miles after that with no problems. Yeah I know, I was broke back then.
