I have a leak along the side of the windshield (both sides). Now the question is do I run a bead of butyl inside the windshield seal (left and right side)? The seal is of the zipper type. I believe from my test the water in getting in at the top of the zipper strip and running down inside next to the window edge and leaking to the inside. Once the seal is zipped shut I don’t think water gets in directly along the side especially when the trim is covering it. I could just put a dab of butyl at the top where the gap is at.

Has anyone had experience on this issue?

I attached a picture of the passenger side windshield seal. You can see as it is zipped closed and you can also see the gap at the top.

When the guy installed my windshield he ran some butyl around it when he installed it. Body side and glass side.

My Coronet winshield leaked for years before I figured it out.I was not the windshield at all but the wiper arm pivot seals. Were the wiper pivots bolts on under the dash there is a gasket and a seal for each wiper arm.The gaskets on the B body are kind of diamond or foot ball shaped. You can get these gaskets. You can order the hole pivot seal kit from Laysons Part #s-WP6776A I am sure Year one also carries thease kits. Thought about that but I can visibly see the water enter along the side of the windshield. Thanks for the idea though.

Who ever put the windshield in my duster sealed the top with sillycone, look's to have been there for year's,never leaked and was hidden by the trim.I'm going to replace the windshield when I repaint.Hopefully no leak's.

I always swore it was the windshield too.Sure looked liked it was leaking beside the glass.Well when you repaint and replace the windshield I would replace the winshield gasket too.If you still have a leak I would try the pivot seals.I know another guy who had the same problem had his windshield in and out 3 times and it still leaked. He finally changed the pivot seals and the leaked stopped. The pivot seals are a major issue on B Bodies but I am not sure on A Bodies.II have had a number of A Bodies and only had one winshield leak.I sold the car before I could fix the leak.
