Wives, girlfriends, mistresses, etc...

My wife hates the Mopars. Rides in them reluctantly, wouldn't drive if her life depended on it. Not sure if she's scared of them or just jealous. :toothy7:

Mine too, think her parents had a bad experience with a Dodge Pickup when she was a kid and that ruined her on Mopars for life, but she still likes to ride.

only people that will ever drive my duster is me and my dad.... girlfriend is not alowed to drive it, i know it would just scare the crap out of her...

I'm diggin on these stories! It's great to know there's other lead-foot ladies out there like me.

Though it's been many years, my boyfriend at the time let me take his 396 4-speed 69 Chevelle down the 1/4 mile at the Pueblo Motor Sports track once. At the end of the run when I came back to the pits, he was livid and demanded that I get out of the car immediately. "You're never driving my car again! Ever ever ever!!!!"

A few minutes later, his best friend pulled me off to the side. He revealed that I'd beat Jeff's best time by two and half seconds, his ET by 9 miles an hour, and his reaction time by almost a full second. I still have the 13.14 / .003 / 1.18 60-foot time slip somewhere.

What can I say? The boy just couldn't shift. :-D

Now that's priceless! lol!

Hey 340 Dart Power ... that is one fine looking Swinger!

We're practically neighbors!!!! Mapquest says it's 140 miles between Greenfield and Franklin. Maybe you and your daughter can come to the little car show they have here in October. If she knows how to handle a reverse manual, I might let her take Slimer for a spin.

Right now, only 3 people have driven the dart...Me, brother and buddy. Wifey can't drive a stick, and probably couldn't see over the steering wheel. She tolerates the cars, but only as means to keep me happy. Maybe once it is worked over, and trustworthy, she can run it around the block.

Girlfriend...mistress...No chance. Can't afford to get the cars where I want them, let alone add more estrogen and loss of income to the current situation.

Its been so long I can't remember.:bootysha: She drove my 70 318 barracuda and my
73 challenger but never ever wanted to go racing with me.
I think she felt like that was my two boy's and my day away.
She is not much of a gear head at all.:happy10:

leanna !! my fastest pass was in a 72 chevelle a friend had.
I was a back up driver when I was 23 year old and made a 7.02 1/8 mile
pass . The good ol day's.

Very cool. She starts UT @ Knoxville as a Fresh(wo)man in August, and I have a little trip to go on to the Sandbox (Iraq) coming up, but I'll be back in early October. When is the show?

I agree. There should be more (Known) Lady's posting. I'm not so old in thinking that I HAVE to be "DA MAN!" and be first in everything. IF my honey bunny makes more money, go get'em babe! IF she ends up a better driver, Go get'em babe!

When I was first married to her, she helped me build engines, do brakes etc...
Caught her drag racing her mother. Could have shot her then, being a bit prego at the time, about 7 months or so. She just laughed at me. Blew me off. (Piss me off!)

Now, she's no so happy being that getting dirty is a bit out of the picture being a RN and all. Gotta have them cleaner than clean hands for the sick. But that pay is preety good, even more so for only a 2 year collage schooling. Actually, not to damn bad at all.

Last year it was October 19-21 but no one at the City is willing to be pinned down on a date for this year's. Here is all I could find on the 'net about it --http://www.greenfieldtn.com/dept-fire.shtml and this exciting YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aElAuI6AQ2A --boy, you sure can tell I live in this sticks! LOL

Best of luck in the sandbox! Come home safe and sound.

The wife can't drive the Demon cuss of the manual brakes, you got to really pay attention to what's going on around ya and she's used to 4 wheel disc cars. I also kept her from driving my B Bodies over the years cuss she could never work the clutches, you had to have a strong left leg. Funny how things seem to work out for the best.

My wife used to circle track with me. she ran 2 seasons in a mini stock. she got really good..the second season about 3 races from the end she was racing 4 wide for first place when she got tangled with the other cars and rolled it over another car she still finished the season but wasnt as aggressive anymore, so she quit. she still go es to the races with me but i dont think she wants to be a driver anymore...
i dont see how you guys can be married to someone who is not interested in what you are, and vice versa...??

Here is my wife's car I got for her as a wedding gift almost 4 years ago. 1970 Dart Swinger factory FM3 Panther Pink, 318/904 8 3/4. I have since added a 68 340 intake, 625 Carter 4 bbl, 340 HP manifolds, Mopar electronic ignition, 2 1/4 dual exhaust with stainless a-body tips and an Heddman Hedder X-Pipe, and 3.23 Sure Grip. She has raced it 19 runs down the 1/4 mile by herself, pulling off great reaction times and mid 15 second 1/4 mile times, Not bad for a pretty stock 318! She loves the car, and now since we have a 1 year old daughter, the car will probably be hers some day!! :love7:
I LIKE THE WAGON!!!!

Way back when....when Hector was a pup....I was married AND owned a Superbird. That was until I found out she had somehow acquired a set of keys and would drive it while I was at work. So I got her a 71 Challenger FC7, 318 auto, with power windows.

My current gf had a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. She thought it was fast and constantly asked about driving one of my cars. I said she really had no idea what fast was, and she couldn't handle a 12 second street tired big block car.

Finally I let her drive my '05 Mustang GT 5 speed. She leaned on the loud pedal and about soiled herself. All I said was, this isn't nearly as fast as one of the Big Block cars.

This Sedan I'm building is (sort of) for her. With a 318, Voodoo, headers and a 4V it should be as fast or faster than her (ex) Turbo Twinkie. And if she wants to try her luck at the track, I'll be happy to take her.

The End.......for now anyway

The wife was the one that finally got me off my fat butt to fix the 66. She looked out the window one day and said, "If you'd fix that cute little blue car, I'd be quite happy to drive it." Next day the Vart was comin' apart. :)

My wife likes, and wants a Mustang:angry7: although i like the 65-67. I told her i would get her one if she wanted, at least it old, Shes worried that i wouldnt make it as fast as the Dart so she could blow me away. I let her know, that im not worried about that.

I figure if she will clean the grease off my K-member and steering box, she can drive it if she wants. :-D

While I wouldn't say my girlfriend loves cars as much as I do she does like them enough to put up with me. I drag her to shows all over and the only complaints I ever hear are about the heat, walking or getting up early. She had never really been around cars until we got together, she likes drag racing so if there is a show/drag it's a pretty easy sell for me to get her to go to it.

She fell in love with the Valiant and is the main reason we got it (back-up car for her dying Neon). I can pretty much buy any cars/parts I want as long as bills are covered and I keep us fed.

It works out pretty good. :D
