i mean, i didnt even believe it
i had to turn around and get a second look to make sure i didnt mistake a dog for a raccoon
(afterall, people walk dogs all the time right?)

but on my second pass it was clear, this guy had a baby raccoon on the end of his leash, and was walking it down the side walk

(no mistaking about it, black rings on the tail, lone ranger mask)

not sure what to think about it...until i remembered a story about some idiots who had a pet raccoon...and a baby
they left both of them alone and the raccoon, being a wild animal turned on the baby and almost killed

this happened in '02, and it looks like they are STILL not done reconstructing her face

There are raccoon foster homes. And yes some people raise them as pets.

i can see how dogs also maul family members (not too long since i read about a forum member worrying about this) but dogs are domesticated
familiar ground so to speak

but 'coons, they are still wild animals
that just seems like a really bad idea

I knew a guy that had a pet Bobcat. Had a big red bow around its neck so that people would not shoot it.
First time I saw it I thought it was a dog running at me....

Yep, a buddy of mine has a "trash panda" named Duke.
He's probably 10 years old now.
I wouldn't have one, but we paint cars different colors for a reason.

A friend of mine rescued a baby and raised it until it passed away. He called the raccoon "Rocky" and he was a super excellent well behaving family member. Excellent with children, babies, the ladies and other pets.

I have one that roams my property for the last four or five years. I would love to get a picture of this guy.
Looks to weight about fifty pounds if I had to guess. Is about 3 ft long and two ft high on all fours.

I had a pet deer named Dixie, he was pretty much a pain in the ***, but was actually had a very gentle nature, I put an orange vest on him with a small cow bell so somebody would not shoot him during deer season.
I nursed him from a baby, he was tame, but free to roam.
I lived in an old farm house at the time, it had a huge kitchen, and one day he just walked in the back door, as soon as all four hooves hit the floor, it literally fell over, just like the bambi on ice cartoon.

I also had a pet squirrel, never again, a destructive, mischeve little guy.
But alot of entertainment.
