I love the V8 sound, too, but I'm more interested in how a car runs than how it sounds... I have a Vortech supercharged 360 Magunm in my other car (1972 Valiant,) and if this old '64 runs the way it should... and we have no way of knowing that it will, BUT IF it runs the way it should, it will run away from my V8 car... That car runs mid 11's.

It's gonna look even better when you're done I'm sure. I forgot to add it's cool with the 4 escape hatches :D

Ha ha bill well im hoping nov .. but time will tell like i said who knows with gas going back up i mite have to be driving the barracuda soon lol

Thanks for the encouragement! At this stage of life (I'm 73; my racing partner is 74) we need all the help we can get!!!

Thw shipping weight on a 64 Valiant 2-door is 2,540. The 4-door is 2,475.

If this thing runs even 11-flat, that 35 pounds will only equal .05-sec., accoeprding to the Wallace online calculator I use to prognosticate speeds and e.t's.

At 120 mph, .05-sec. is about 8.8 feet at the finish line. About half a car-length. So, we're giving up half a car-length by running a 4-door instead of a 2-door. Guess we'll just have to work a little harder!!!!:violent1:

Again, thanks for the encoragement!!! We're havin' fun! So far...

Doc, thanks for the sugestions. Here are some answers:

The shipping weight of a Valiant two-door sedan in 1964 is just 35 pounds less than a 4-door, Not a whole lot...
The '64 Valiant 4-door is 165 pounds lighter than a '64 1/2 Barracuda...

Yes, the back doors are whole. Their proximity to the rear wheels is thought to make getting weight out of them counter-productive. This car is going to be hard enough to hook up with the kind of torque it SHOULD have, and removing weight from the area around the rear wheels probably isn't going to help traction.

An aluminum trunk pan would also make the front/rear weight distribution worse. More traction woes, I'm afraid...

Eventually, I imagine the side glass (which is stock) will be replaced with lexan, and at that time, the regulators will have to go... good idea! :D

Thanks for your interest!

Got the hood buttoned down and the front bumper(s) on. We're making some end caps for the bumpers....

installation and adjustment of the waste gate
boost controller installation (different from the waste gate)
blowoff valve installation
homemsde 1.6:1 rocker arm installation

Jeesh... I have my hands full with this old Valiant; it's taken me 2 years to get a paint job on it, and the turbo is still months away...

Besides, I don't think I could work with those guys; I couldn't understand a word they were saying!:eek:ops:

Thanks, but I am kinda busy right now, with this 48-year-old wannabe musclecar/money pit....

I think you know what I mean.......:banghead:

Wow man. I really like the split front bumper. This might be the coolest early-a Valiant Ive ever seen..

Thanks loads for the kind words, Memike! I owe every good thing about this car to Tom Wolfe, Ryan Peterson, Charrle Schmid and Frank Brent; without their help and guidance I'd still be trying to figure out how to get the head off this thing...

No kidding. I have ZERO experience with slant 6's AND turbochargers.

90-percent of what I (think) I know, I learned from reading posts on FABO.

I appreciate the encouragement and inspiration, though; we need all the uplifting messages we can get!!!:prayer:

The front end's looking a little better with the sawed-up bumper, I think... We're trying to make some end caps for it.

Here's a shot of the front end, now...

Well, thanks a lot for that compliment! We made it so it can be quickly and easily be removed at the strip (it's kinds heavy:cwm10:.)

But, I like the way it looks, so it may just stay, in spite of the weight... LOL!

Depends on how it leaves the line; if it doesn't grab some air, it comes off....:D
