A New Look For Sunfish!!

Well all, after returning from a looong ride in Sunfish over the summer, my brother pointed out just how dry rotted the tires were and flamed me for taking Ian on the freeway with such crappy tires!! He was right, I bought those tires and Rallyes almost 10 years ago, and the tires were used then!!! Time for a change...

I was getting a little sick of the Rallye look, and had a set of 14x5.5" steelies (my favorite brand), so I thought I'd try out a new combo and look on Sunfish!! I bought the hubcaps from a member here (great deal too!!), so I sold the Rallyes to a friend who just bought a 71 Dart, and used the $$ to buy new tires. I also got another set of 14x5.5" rims in the deal, so I'm still good to go for the 66 convert!!

So, what do y'all think?? I am sort of a dog dish guy, and knew the hubcaps would look good, so I am pretty pleased. Best yet, Nella thinks the new look is awesome, so I think it's a keeper.

I love the steelie look! I have rallyes on a '69 Swinger, and while they look good, I am considering the same move to steelies/caps that you did.

thats why every proper lady has multiple pairs of shoes.....same concept ....i always keep extra wheel combos for my cars and swap them around yearly....this cuda looks great with dishes or rallys....i prefer the dishes but a cuda will always look good

Looks great Geof!! Steelies always look good on a Barracuda. The dog dish hubcaps give them a little bit of flash which really sets them off. Love it!!

Sunfish is still sporting her original 273 and auto trans. I did slip an 8 3/4" 3:23 SG under there though!!

We bought the car from the original owner who rebuilt the motor in 1992, painted the car and put on a new top and redid the front buckets. Then he put it under a tarp and left it sit outside until we bought it in 2001. The motor probably doesn't have 2000 miles on it, but it looks like it has been in ther forever. Didn't get around to painting it I guess!!

Nella saw the before and after pics when we were reading your replies and said she actually likes the Rallyes better, but is perfectly fine with the steelies...for now!!!
