340 gone! Performance shop shut down! Help!

Better yet... Find 4 Hispanics with lots of tats....that will convince them...

BTW... My kids are part Mexican .... That is not a racial slure... Just a fact of local phsycology...

I cant say what I would do but I can say im sorry matching numbers that makes me sick but I think you will get it back

OK that is good to know. I will get aggressive with them and call the DA back tomorrow. I have a feeling my phone is going to be blowing of the hook tomorrow with all the routes I have taken! LOL!

Also in a lot of states $3,000 in fraud is a felony.

The DA just didn't want to mess with it and file charges against the owner.

Make them. (I would be on thier *** about it and insist they file charges) with the stipulation that the charges will be dropped if they evened up with me.
You have been defrauded and had your property stolen and you want to file charges.
Use that exact wording.

They HAVE to do it.

Will do! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I better plan on taking my phone charger to work with me!

WRONG....Since you paid them money for services it is now fraud.... Stay on thier (DAs) asses....email the Gov... The local paper...the state police... Etc Make noise... Then if that doesnt work , go pay a visit with5 of the biggest guys you know!

I would call the National Guard and ask them to camp in their new parking lot until you get your money and block back.

Good luck

Michael

Contact the police. This is stolen property, you have receipts that indicate they have it. I see no reason why the police can't help you get this engine back if it's still on the premises. Small claims courts can come later to get your $3k back. But get the engine first.

Pull all the stops and hit it from every angle possible at once. Time is not on your side since your engine could be sold at any minute so take full advantage of it now.

Not only $3000 in cash but the value of the engine too! Don't forget that this engine is worth even more considering it was out of a matching number car!

God this thing has got me so riled up I could barely sleep last night. This f*cking guy has it coming to him. Karma is a *****!

I'd stop in to some of the other local machine shops in your area & ask them if they know anything at all about their whereabouts. Explain your situation to them & that you're not looking to involve them at all just trying to find out about your engine & the guys who have it. The automotive community is a small world & everybody knows their competitors & usually the dirt on them. Espescially machine shops. Maybe you might run into someone who worked there or knows someone or where they can be contacted.
This really sucks! Thanks for your service to our great nation!

That is a great idea.

Have a visit with the NAPA stores that are in that area since they had that information on their website.

I hate to play the devil's advocate here, and you do need to jump on this before these people file for bankruptcy, BUT

in many places this is not legally fraud or theft until it can be proven, and bankruptcy will not be, either

No legal entity is going to let you, or escort you somewhere to get "stuff" that you say is yours. So unless you have some pretty good proof that your engine is "your engine," it's not gonna leave.

A pair of heads on a bench might be tough, unless you have previously marked them!!!

Crank, other misc engine parts will be impossible to prove.

He likely had a parts supplier locally,, ask around,, that supplier may have been stiffed too,, and could help with the search, or appreciate your situation, and supply info..

find his home address....make a visit to this guys house....but I agree about contacting suppliers too. They may assist you with finding this jerk.

I have learned to never pay up front for anything practically. People are much more motivated to get the work done when their own hide is in the game. Just be glad you got your engine back... Next time, ask them how long they take to do a job, get an idea on the longest it could take and the shortest, days weeks months etc.... Then you have an idea to set your clock by and will be able to guage if there is a problem.

Then if that doesnt work , go pay a visit with5 of the biggest guys you know!

Ask OJ how that worked out for him.....just subpoena him and take him to small claims for 7500 bucks ( bring in replacement cost of a numbers matching block, ie. None) If he doesnt show, its a default in your case, and fraud is not bankruptcy protected.

Here is a list of his suppliers as told by him on Parts & People.

Brooks said he buys parts from NAPA Auto Parts, O’Reilly, LKQ, Keystone, Summit, Premier Performance, and Engine & Performance Warehouse Inc. (EPWI), and is a direct distributor for Manley, Whipple, SCT Programmers, and Maxi-Lube products.

“I buy a lot from Premier because they have a warehouse right here in Fresno,” Brooks said. “I get all my engine kits from EPWI because they have everything, and I buy Fel-Pro gaskets for street engines and Cometic for custom race engines.”

While you are searching his partner/wife is Cindy Brooks.

There are other names in the article that you might want to follow up on too.

Um its pretty easy to prove that the engine is his. He has pics of him dropping it off at the shop and also its a matching numbers engine. All he would need is the title with the vin # and just match it up to the block. Maybe if its disassembled he would have a hard time proving the internals are his but i'm sure he would at least want to have the numbers matching block.
