Early A-body HDK to be released soon

-
I got sidetracked this week dismantling a rust-free Texas Duster slated for a radical Hemi build.

I did get a production run of the upper shock mounts and support hoops. The motor perches are at the laser cutter and I will pick them up early in the week. From there I will mock up with a small block and a RB / 440 to verify fit.

after that ...ready for a real world install.

Not sure if this is the direction I'm heading with my Dart. But it's nice to know a quality product like this will be available if I need it.

thanks for the support.

Are you planning to work on some exhaust options too?

Not sure what you mean Rusty.....one of the benefits of the rack/ coil over conversion besides modernizing the 50 year old factory steering is to make what is on the market fit better (interference and rubbing issues) and installation easier.

What options are you looking for?

That's awesome! A guy had a custom K and coilover setup without rack and pinion or spindles for $3,000 at the Spring Fling last year. This is a way better deal! I need to sell some stuff and do some side jobs to get this setup!

Denny we are ready to order when you are ready !! Glad to see options becoming available for us early A lovers. Sold my 67 dart today :(. But that allows me to keep my wife and finish the 66 valiant ! Both are good things. Great things.

Not sure where this post got moved to? But it was asking about a weld in the shock tower. No not normal.

Oh I don't know. I imagine still that even with your cool k frame savin space and all that a big block will still be tight. I mean......I think Mopars could use some exhaust options regardless. Don't you?

I agree.

On a B/RB I would like to see the TTi shorty and a head pipe, especially for ground clearance on the low stance cars.

Unfortunately, I already spend more on R&D than I make....so says the accountant. ....good thing my wife pulls the gear ($)

Anyone that wants to send me any manifolds or header to test fit on the HDK....no charge.

Remember I tried the TTI shorties on a low deck and they hit everywhere probably designed for a RB don't know if they revamped them or not

that's right.....then you went to Schumacher tri Y.

Hmmmmmmm???

That's the only set of them I ever saw (so far). Weren't they hitting on your engine (not the K-frame or the car)?

Well today I had to break the news to my beloved ole valiant that I was removing and selling her front half. Yep parted out- in a way. !! She sure was sad. Then I showed her pictures of the metal masterpiece -that is the early A HDK !! I read to her the fabulous reviews and testimonials for HDK here on FABO. The more I read the more the ghost of whopped Chevys and burnouts past began to fly, All the way back to 30 years earlier where I pulled her from that field where she was left to die. Just as the memories got flowing -in walked the wife, she spoke slowly with her southern drawl - stop all that thinkin and get some tools in your hands. Get those inferior parts off, get em sold -as soon as we can ! Clean that engine bay where the new 440LA will reside, then be ready to whoop every Cheebie in the land !!!
LONG STORY SHORT. THE WIFE SAYS "GIT EM". So by mid May we gonna be "GITTIN EM"! I PERSONALLY WOULD NEVER DRIVE FAST, PICK OUT A RACE, NEVER DO A BURNOUT !!!!!! BUT WHEN THE WIFE SPEAKS !! WHATS A MAN TO DO ???
HEY DENNY !! Sounds like we just waiting on you !!!!
Not really. No major rush !! I have a few tunnel tweaks and some speed glass mods and some new plumbing to run --- that can take up my free time. Maybe a few 12 ounce curls.

So, any updates on progress?

I have a package in Indianapolis....one going to Alabama....and one headed to Michigan.

although slightly different due to the car being narrower and shorter, the basic front end geometry used on the 67-76 is the same.

the 340 and 360 poly spool mounts are the same as the 67-76 models and are in stock ready to go. HDK / Schumacher Creative Services 273 /318 poly-spool mounts are on the way. Because the engine bay is shorter, a rear sump pan is required for the optimum rack installation.

I am ready to build anyone a K package whenever they are ready.

Even for 65? Just requires narrower K correct? I'm going to have to buy and sell a couple things to save up for this, but I can probably make up half of it with all the fresh rebuilt/powder coated suspension I have

Is is a dropped spindle, or close to stock ride height? I was looking into getting a pair of dropped spindles, but decided to start selling and saving for this.

The Mustang II drop spindle is used on 99% of the HDK builds, however, a few have used the standard.

Two to choose from ( in both drop or standard)....the Wildwood Pro or the regular (Heidts version)

I have the 2" drop Wilwood Pro on the silver Duster pictured below.

And your using the DS501 QA1 shock - which shock mount - also the front tire diameter
