I found a 360 engine connected to a TF trans. for my 65 Valiant project. The engine, and trans. are out of a 1988 3/4 ton Dodge truck. The engine was completely gone through 19,000 miles ago by a very reputable shop. (seller has all paperwork and I know the shop) My questions are will a 3/4 ton truck Torque flite have the same mounting points as a passenger car? And is the combination worth 800.00?

Yes it will work but you will have to get a car pan and pick up,engine mounts, shift linkage and a driveshaft. That sounds a bit much. What did they do to the engine?

Some p/u's had short tailshaft torqueflites. I don't know what applications used them, but you should be able to tell visually. Mounting points would still be the same, but you'd need a longer than normal driveshaft.

.030 over, pistons, all brgs, rebuilt heads, etc. Will my 273 pan work on a 360?

no,you need to find a #392 360 pan and pick up. If all of that was done to it then it makes more sense.

Thanks for the reply Sedanman. That's kind of what I thought. A retired guy has it and also said the trans was rebuilt around 40,000 miles ago. It also has all the kickdown linkage attached. Probably won't work with my application though.

It might. I'm having issues matching up pans and pick up's at the moment myself. I like being able to do a search for what questions I have and finding the answers from others posting. It looks like the 360 aftermarket pan ($50 on ebay) has the right sump offset you need for a pre 67 a body

Thanks for the info. I was hoping the 273 pan would work so I''ll have to check out ebay.
