318 Poly cams

-
Hi Folks,

Looking for a poly 318 roller cam please?
Any help greatly received.

Happy Easter to all.

Good luck finding one off the shelf. I've been looking around myself, pretty much the only option is a custom grind. There just is not a lot of aftermarket support for Poly Heads. Very hard to even find an off the shelf grind on a flat tappet, solid or hydraulic let alone roller. Oregon Cam Grinders is a good company to give a call. Prices are fair.

CPPA performance did a 318 poly build on a magnum block in one of the Mopar mags last year. I'd google them and see if you can find a copy of the article for a parts list and source or contact them

they used a solid cam shaft. Custom grind. They do offer it for sale though.

Many thanx for the replies.
I saw that the 'Hinkles' and the 'SAM' Pollies at the Engine-Masters both used Compcam rollers. A .640-lift and a .800-lift(really)?
When I contacted Comp, they seemed unsure of the Poly Rollers being made by themselves at all?:wtf:

Camcraft say they can make them but are very expensive and no one else seems interested...
A LA 'roller billet' can obviously be ground for a Poly but nobody seems to have billets in stock either?
Hopefully Howards, Hughes or Comp will release a 'LA' billet or two for us Poly plonkers to have a play with???:drama:

WE have cam-grinders here in the UK too and companies that will make me a blank but its a costly pastime indeed, making custom stuff.

both of those had solid rollers custom cut by Comp according to the articles about them. But comp does not offer them off the shelf. Roller Cams in general are expensive, the roller lifters even more $$$. My question is, what are you doing with this engine and why do you think you need a roller cam?

Hi Duke,
Going up to the next level with a 402ci Poly, 500hp.
Can't find any Poly flat tappets bigger than the Scheider .525 and we have just had another .550 FT cam failure in a 400hp 1967 LA engine.
That coupled with many Bigblock FT-cam failures over the years has driven us to swap to roller cams.
Crower are the best street rollers I have ever used and well worth the extra expense.
Good vacuum and nearly 600hp with a 512ci B/B engine ad 13 mpg in a 66 Polara!

Just wanna do a crazy 402ci Poly for my 65 Dart or its a 408 LA or even a 451 B/B for me.

makes sense to go roller then. I asked simply because most of the time it seems the person asking about poly rollers is just trying to stick it in an otherwise stock poly, which is way overkill. I cant wait to see what you come up with though. I've got a poly in my 64 polara i'm working on.

I would recommend contacting Gary Pavlovich. He is the Guru of anything Poly.(619) 572-3008.
Gary has supplied us with Poly Stroker parts for 10 years now and I feel its time we went our own way.
I was going to do the Engine masters back in 2005 with the renowned engine builder Tom Nelson LA.
We were going to do a smallblock Mopar entry and always regret not doing it now, as it would have been a wonderful experience.
Now that the Hinkles and the Sam's have done Pollies at the Engine masters its probably all been done now?
1000hp N/A Mopar engines are not un-common here in the UK but 500hp Pollies are lol...
Gary P. has been a leading light in the re -emergance of Poly-power and keen engine builders are seeing their true potential again.

If a Roller cam is not forth coming then the whole thought of a 500hp Poly build is a non-starter.
It will be back to LA's and the B/B's and a few Hemi's, how boring lol...:thankyou:
