I got my new Mopar Muscle magazine yesterday. I came across something that did not make any sense to me. Read the text below. Since when does bore and stroke NOT
determine the engine's displacement. Correct me if I am wrong, but how is piston
height going to affect displacement??? I don't care how high or low the piston is,
cubic inch displacement = (1/2 bore) squared x 3.1416 x stroke. Am I wrong?
So what is this person talking about??

it should have read pin height, as the 360 has the smallest pin to deck height becasue the damn stroke is longer!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand that's why I don't read those rags. Mopar Action or nothing.

LMAO!!!Talk about how to show yourself as a dickhead, a dumb *** dickhead!!!!! This applies to everyone at those publications. Shameful, should never happen!

They laid off the editors so the CEO's salary could remain in tact. Seems most print publications have followed the same cost cutting measure.

Bore x Bore x stroke x .7854 x the number of cylinders = C.I.D. PERIOD!
The rag mag use to have great writers, Steve Young was one of them, we use to drag race together. He saw the hand writing on the wall and moved on. I haven't had a subscription to that crap in years.

The vintage Performance Mags are barely hanging on these days. Those that truly know what they are talking about have moved on...so it’s just a bunch of hacks left now, regurgitating information that they don’t understand trying to remain relevant.

It’s a damned shame since they are still reaching enthusiasts who want to get into the hobby, but are being poorly served by the misinformation they publish.

Really, who needs mags with 1 tech writer (if you can call him that) when you got 30,000 owner/operator/maintainers on an interactive web site like this who cumulatively have probably tried or seen everything, with pics to boot! Hey you want to see an ancient variable cam drive, just ask and Bam! There it is....."Hey magazine writer, ever hear of a Clutch-flite?" uh...no...wazzat?

A clutch-flite; a long time ago,I wanted one really bad. Lemmee think;oh yeah, that was in the 70s, I think.I was a kid and thought it would be great on the street. Now I just want a 5 or a 6-speed.

I like magazines. Yeah, these car forums are great too but the tactile feel of a magazine means a lot to me.
Errors like this are a pathetic embarrassment. What in the fuckity **** is wrong with these dickless idiots? How can crap like this make it to print?
Years back their grammar was shitty too. "Joe admits that when he bought the car, it needed restored"...
No sir...It needed restoration.
"The car is shod with BF Goodrich..."
No sir, shod means "to shoe". The car is fitted/equipped/wearing/sitting on.....BF Goodrich tires.
I expect a higher standard of print media.
Guys on these forums make grammatical errors sometimes but this is a bit more casual of a setting.
Still.....For sell, need to sale, needs restored, using TO instead of TOO....These mistakes do reflect poorly on the writer if they are a habit instead of a rare thing.

Writers aren't car guys anymore. I always enjoyed Randy Bolig's writings in Mopar Muscle. He was a avid Mopar guy too.

I havn't bought a Mopar mag in decades. MA was the one I did read. Had a subscription to MM for one year and dropped it, way back, what '90's????? It was very amateurish for the most part. I would enjoy reading of on of their builds, but really, did that guy have a clue??? Tech....I read tech in MA
I take several Quarter Horse mags, ( Quarter horse news, Team Roping Journal, Western Horseman, AQHA Ranch horse, Performance horse Journals) yes some just got bought out, BUT they get better and better and better!!!! Too bad there is not the same quality in Mopar and car mags in general.

The guys name is synonomous with that article... Benty, Cam

Most all the content on any of those sites and mags anymore are from freelance people. Some, as the case here, have no idea about content they write about!

I've met John McGann from Car Craft a few times. Good guy that is pretty sharp. Not the norm these days.
