sleepers....how fast and how plain before it is one?

why does it only go in a straight line? 50+ year old car showing the tail lights to new bimmer in a canyon works too. even if it is showing a bit of tire...:D

Yea not a Mopar, this is a sleeper. Twin turbo 1400HP bad ***.

Farm truck vs LSx Willies! I think Farm Truck would still take him...

A Volare station wagon with woodgrain would be a good starting point for a sleeper. Dart, not so much.....

Roll bar??????????
Can’t see one, doesn’t mean there
Isn’t one, though I’d run one and more. The point is, what ever he has, or not, isn’t readily seen making that as close to a sleeper I have yet seen here.

The only thing giving that away as beyond stock is the rubber.

There is no right or wrong answer here. It's just a matter of personal opinion.

How about this one? Not drag racing but road course. Drove it to No problem Raceway in Louisianan, 1.8 mile road course. On a Friday, test and tune. There where a couple of smaller track cars, 280 Z, RX 7 etc. Trailered track cars. Hired a driving instructor for pointers for myself and for the car. After driving for a while, asked instructor for pointers for the car. His reply was a little less cam, and said he was surprised about the old girl because no one passed us and we were about even all around the track. A little faster on the straights and they where a little faster on the tight corners, hence a smaller cam so I could use torque to come out off the corner instead of having to downshift all the time. Put the hub caps and trim rings back on and drove it home.

I like it. What size tires fore & aft?

When ever I hear the term “Sleeper” this vintage seems to to come to mind. Leave the paint alone, maybe a snow tire or two for the affect. And all the go-fast goodies one can afford to stuff under the hood and a sure-grip rear end. If you pulled up to this car at the light, would you not think it was a piece of crap?

225/60/15 front, 235/60/15 rear, had Firestone Indy tires, they stuck pretty good. Now can only get Cooper Cobras and the like. looking into the 17 inch Bullitt rims to get a little softer compound tire.

It's obvious you have no clue what the classic sleeper is. lol
nice car, but it won't fool anyone, it looks fast.

I have been at this hobby for 30 years, I know a few things. Would you expect this to have 1400HP?

Here ya go.

66? Bug with a Subaru STI motor built to the hilt and a six speed.
With the fenders, trunk lid and lower valance on it just looks like your average POS 56 HP VW... ya cant even see the cage.

All that give it away is the bay area racing sticker.

i kind of consider my dart to be a sleeper. yes you can see the cage at some angles. yes it has a chute(but it is removable with ease to conceal it).
so what would you guys consider a true sleeper of sorts? 10 sec, 9s, 8s?? how fast and how simple looking does it have to be?? i think just decieving the masses it is a sleeper.
please discuss and share a sleeper you believe to be one and how fast it is or is gonna be.

mine below for starters high 7s once its worked out. 8s probably in the first couple of hits. yet i onoy intend to run the 1/8 so mid 5s to start mid 4s is the goal.
