Hi from Italy!
I’d really like to know more about my 1968 Barracuda. I know it’s an Euro Import Version, assembled in Switzerland (Automontage Schinznach) and imported by SIMCA. It is a ‘68 model year but with a matching number 273 V8, that it wasn’t available anymore in the US for that year, but looks like it was for Europe. It has an original speedometer in KM/H. These in the pics are the only tags that can be found in the engine compartment (LH Fender)... no Door tag and no other fender tags since I have it (2012)... so I can’t get any other informations.
If you can help discovering more about these Euro Import versions and about my car in particular thanks a lot!

Pretty cool! It looks to have lots of 67 parts, the steering wheel is 67 so I would believe that quite a few of the 67 parts were included in the foreign version as well as the 273. I always thought it was strange that the 273 was available on the Dart up to 1969 but not the Barracuda.

Welcome from Texas, beautiful notch 'Cuda.
Hi! Thank you!

Uh, always thought this steering wheel was the same in '68.

Benvenuto! Macchina molto bella, ottimo colore. Dovresti trovare molte risposte qui.
Grazie mille!

Beautiful! Notch is on my bucket list lol.
Thanks!

These cars were partially assembled in Hamtramck, MI then shipped overseas to be completed.

Some countries had different safety items, lights, seat belts etc. & some required a certain percentage of parts be installed via local suppliers.

In these cases, the normal B for Hamtramck in the VIN was replaced with the 8 for the assembly plant.

Oh thank you for the infos!
Beautiful car!!
Thanks!
Very nice Hardtop! That speedo would raise some eyebrows in the US thinking it was MPH!
ahahah... I can imagine

We have/had some here in Canada with KPH. I just noticed that yours goes to 240kph=150mph(high end speedometer) Did they offer a 190KPH=120mph as the standard version. Pretty dang cool. Does your speedometer cable thread on(67 style) or clip on(68+)?

This Barracuda was fully built/assembled in Switzerland in the plant of AMAG Schinznach, not in Hamtramck.

Sheet metal came from The NEKAAF plant in Rotterdam, drive-train from the US, Seats from Germany, Headlights from France, interior and glass should be Swiss products...

More info here:

High quality Swiss made A - Bodies

All glass on this car is marked StaalGlas Amsterdam.
On the original Chrysler Radiator there's a tag: Benetti Kuhler Zurich.

Very interesting, never seen before on a Swiss Mopar, but maybe a Notchback special

Yes, this I've forgot to mention - up to 1970 the Schinznach A-Bodies got - better? - genuine Swiss Radiators. Maybe this one was only prepared/upgraged by a Swiss radiator shop.

I like the '67 horn button. Is that a European thing, or a previous owner thing?

When we travelled in France about 30 years ago, we were told that the French use their horns so much, that when you turn the headlights on, the horn is muted and the headlights flash instead. (to keep noise down at night) Is that true, and if so when did that start?

Marvin, did you miss the tag that shows the maker and location as well as the importer?

The car was partially assembled in the USA and then exported to be finished.
