My experiences on Pendleton are not so serene. My time was spent tracing trouble on phone lines, AND High speed internet issues...That place is HUGE. I finally figured out there mapping system...That airport there, talk about security! I had a top secret clearance, and a All access pass, stemming from my Navy service, BUT still needed a escort in the airport area.
It is Ginormous! I think we marched every inch of it preparing to rotate back to the desert. Fun times! Note the dripping sarcasm! Holy smokes they about killed us out there!
. The seminar is in lovely Mojave? China Lake NWC and Edwards AFB are much closer than Camp Pen. If ya have to go the the Mighty Mojave, November not a bad time of year to do it.
Call and check, last time we tried to get a room on a military base they weren't booking unless you were TDY.
You forgot to mention the beautiful sun sets. I got as close to there on a drive by down HWY 1.

Preparation is easily 95% of a good weld. I try and try to explain that to my young gun welders and they just won’t listen, they are in such a hurry to get to next fixture. Good welders have learned how to prep the weld. Welding it is the easy part!
I was having issues from the backside of the welds. Since I could get to both sides of this before welding it in, I sanded and then wiped it down with a welding surface cleaner spray I got from the local welding supply store.
