Stop in for a cup of coffee

The right side is stiffer and a little more arch to compensate for the extra torque that goes to the right rear tire on launch due to the spin of the driveshaft through the axle... The right tire gets more torque so they make the right spring stiffer....
My 67 sport fury has an extra leaf from the factory on the right side. 383 car.

'84 Daytona Turbo

I thought that 84 swiss cheese wheels had more than one row of holes... That's what my dad's 84 Laser had... In 85 they changed to just one row of holes...

I had one of these in gold back in 1985

I had an 85 1/2 Laser XT Turbo... They made them at the end of the model year... Mine was built on May 23rd and I picked it up on June 4th... The dealers started placing orders for the new 86's the next week after I bought mine...

Dad wouldn't let me get the T-tops because the firebirds with T-tops were always getting the T-tops stolen around here, so I got the sun roof instead...

Mine looked something like this one...

85's didn't have the third rear mounted tail light, the 86's did....

So, now that my ideas of having a v8 muscle car in my car are becoming reality, my parents pointed out that the front suspension on my duster is dust.
How difficult is it to rebuild the suspension myself and what rebuild kits did you guys use?
Looking under it, it is really overwhelming.

It's not too bad... I've been doing my own front suspensions for decades... Just take the lower control arms into a machine shop to have the pivot shaft bushing removed and installed... The rest you can do at home in your garage...

Been there. Last one was a 50 chevy 1 ton.pulling engine was nothing compared to getting transmission back in. Everything black with schmutz lumps of dirt constantly falling and i had to do it on the floor. I wanted to pull front sheet metal, owner was against it. Next time im not asking, just doing.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission....

For years when I was a kid I prayed every night for a new bicycle... Then I realized the lord didn't work that way, so I stole one and asked him to forgive me....
Emo Phillips...

I have a Transmission jack from harbor freight, they work but they have a lot of slop and not very accurate.

The higher you jack it up the the more the Transmission can sway to one side or the other.

Even with a trans jack you still have to wrestle it but the jack holds the bulk of the weight which is nice.

The downside of the jack is you have to lift the vehicle MEGA high if you want to roll the jack under it with the transmission on it. If not then you have try to lift the trans onto the jack while laying on the floor which damn sure isn't happening.

The transmission jacks help but are not the end all problems solution

I worked at a towing company my first summer home from college and they did mechanical work, I was one of the mechanics... We had a 4 cyl Mercury Bobcat in for a clutch job and had to remove the trans... Our trans jack in the shop was broken and they told me to go to the shop next door and borrow theirs...

I didn't feel like going through all of that hassle, so I had the other teenage mechanic (Gary) hand the trans to me while I layed on a creeper... I then slid under the car and bench pressed the trans up and got it bolted to the block...

When the boss's brother came back and saw we had the trans back up there he asked who did it, and Gary said that it was Karl... So the boss's brother "another Gary" comes up to me and says, "Karl, you fucked up... You're the official trans man now"... :BangHead: :realcrazy:

Replacing a clutch in my Vega, I pulled trans out, it landed on my chest, OMG it was HEAVY!!!!

And I was young and strong. Had to rent a trans jack to put it back in.....Could not lift it up there and line it up....

That's why I laid down on the creeper first and had teenage Gary hand the trans to me, so I had the power angle on it...

I bench presssed over 200 lb as a freshman in high school... A football player in my gym class was pissed that I could bench more than him... ---> too bad, pussy...

If I tried bench pressing a transmission, I'd probably fart and my arms would break like toothpicks.

There was a girl on our age group swim team that I grew up with that was able to out bench press most of the guys in her freshman class... She benched pressed 140 lbs...

She was strong and knew how to fight also (she had two older brothers)... Any guy that would have tried to mess with her was in for a big surprise...

We were playing animal ball once after practice and she was on the other team... Someone on my team passed the ball to me and she came after me and all I saw was arms coming at me and her nails scratching me... I threw the ball to the nearest person on my team to get her off of me... She was brutal... (and cute also)....
