Speedmaster vs Edelbrock air gap intakes

-
So which 408 had the speedmaster intake and which 410 had the Eddy RPM intake ?? LOL

Anyways I'm looking forward to seeing how this intake works on my new truck build. Again I'm just hoping it seals well and delivers air and fuel to the heads LOL..

Something is wrong with that 408! We got my brothers 67 barracuda to run 11.82 @114 without trying.

i agree. Its one of the blueprint engines strokers. Should run way better.
My old stock stroke 360 ran 11.20’s at almost 119. 3320 pounds. 10 to 1, just cleaned up eddies and airgap

The Blue Print engine has the Edelbrock on it.

Guy i race with has your 408 in his Duster, been testing/ racing it for 2 seasons, car is setup to race pretty well. Best has been 11.90’s at 110 thus far. Should run way better than that.
IDK if this is it of what your thinking about @318willrun

If the bombcycle, with the SM intake, was in a duster with DT's drive train... that 200k 5.9 would be well in the mid 12's, maybe low 12's.... so the intake must be work'n some. That is probably one of the biggest dirt road engines on this site.

At 119 mph I could have easily been in the tens if I wanted to spend thousands more on suspension... And keep the car pretty much purpose built.. I agree with him that's pretty damn good for a street car...

what thousands would you have to spend on suspension?
I went 9’s on CE 3 ways on all 4 corners and super stock springs.
119 is very borderline 10’s. I went right at 119 with my 360, best was 11.20’s and it worked good. 120 is typically 11.0’s or teens.

I have no doubt the intake can make power.
Maybe next spring we'll see if the Eddy RPM offers something on a mild build like bombcycle. Might help somebody make a decision if it's worth the extra $$. Nice to know, and we all like options

I'm 2 for 2 on the sealing of the SM intakes

60 foot?...

yes, this 11.90’s car has a blueprint stroker in it
I'd politely suggest your buddy contact us for some tuning and component suggestions/advice. In my opinion it's really hard to suggest "an engine should run better" when there are hundreds of factors that result in quarter mile times. "setup to race pretty well" doesn't mean it has the right converter, or the best gears for his setup, etc, etc, etc,. There are 600 HP cars out there with bad converter/gear matches that couldn't spin the tires in the rain.

110 Mph sounds like the throttle isn’t opening all the way. That’s an easy guess among all the other guesses people could make as to why it’s struggling.

Maybe the vehicles Aero is the same as a living room couch? o wait, thats another Member :) ahaha. I still smile when i see this thing

60 foot?...

i went 1.34 on that stuff. Its not hard to get a car to 60 foot respectably without much money. Especally A body Mopars with good rear overhang.
Heck my old Duster with that 318 enginemasters mill ran high 1.50’s on stock leafs and New Yorker shocks.

i agree about 1/4 times. But it doesnt make any MPH either. Its a pooch.
He and several guys at the track have fooled with it couple seasons now. There is nothing he has going on that jumps out as to why it only runs 110 after numerous outings, other than the motor doesnt make a lot of power

Agree to disagree. nowhere near enough data points to just say, "the engine is a pooch". And I again invite that gentlemen to call us, and talk setups anytime he chooses. Is he on the forum? I'd be happy to talk with him. I bracket race all summer long in a 408 dart running 10.20's. I may have a tip or two up my sleeve.

LOL! Aero of a Barn door, meat freezer, cinder block....couch is a new one! Not to further sidetrack this thread but I just finished up refreshing my trans an installed a new 4000 stall converter, gonna try and push this tin can death trap past 116 and beyond! Did some 11.44@114 a few weeks ago with a 3500 stall, hope to pickup a smidge or smudge!

4 speed..?..

Both my '76 Duster and '80 D150 cut 1.8's consistently. Both will get quicker but with stock suspension and in street form (especially the truck), it gets a little more tough. Sometimes, because of circumstances, you gotta get the ET in the rest of the 1260 ft.
