i suspect different combo’s will react differently. I know the guys who took that 477 horse 318 to the enginemasters competition didnt leave 30 horse on the table by running that crosswinds instead of an eddie airgap, otherwise, they would have ran the eddie on it.Extremely sharp guys. It may vary combo to combo. No argument there, but I consider my R&D guys to be pretty sharp as well. I stood right there and watched the dyno runs. I would have had no issues using the prof products because it eliminates the goofy hose angle, AND it works on LA and Mag. In fact I wanted to use it for that reason, not to mention cost, but at a 30 horse scrub, we decided the edelbrock was worth it. I have no skin in what anyone here does, just sharing my experience. Those that know me know I'm a pretty honest guy. Those that don't, well I guess my words are worth what ya paid for them lol
I would like to know if they ported the manifold. Also, was it an actual 318? Would you have the article on hand by chance? While I’m dead sure the guys are sharp, isn’t there a cost factor in this competition?
If Edelbrock would have put the dual intake bolt pattern on the RPM I think more people would cough up the extra cash for it. The versatility was the deciding factor in my decision to buy the SM not so much the price.
Same here, IIRC 11 years ago the manifold selection for magnum heads was extremely limited. When I saw the Pro Products one for magnums, at $150 I was all over it, I see that they are going for $200 now, which surprises me because of the fast rising performance parts costs
its a TON.. from one dual plane to another. I know a guy at my home track with that stroker motor installed in his Duster. Gears, convertor, all set up to race and the car just barely squeaks in the 11’s at 110 or so MPH… been messing with it a couple years now. Cant get it to make anywhere near the power its rated at.
That is very accurate. An engine with a small cam, and less head, would care much less what intake was on it. one over 450 HP....they tend to care more We have a very small cam TBI 87-95 SBC engine that works with stock EFI of the era. We can build that engine with GM dumper 87-95 small valve heads, OR...we can throw our aluminum 2.02 valve heads that we use up to 500HP on everything else. both engines will make the same HP, because the cam is so mild...it simply can't use the head flow.
that 318 made 477 at enginemasters with a 247/247 cam and the crosswinds intake on it. Had ported 2.02 magnum R/T heads on it. Ran mid 11’s in my 3400 pound car with a smaller cam in it than it had at enginemasters. Flat hood all steel bench seat Duster with my 320 behind the wheel Guy i race with has your 408 in his Duster, been testing/ racing it for 2 seasons, car is setup to race pretty well. Best has been 11.90’s at 110 thus far. Should run way better than that.
410 stroker 11.4 @119.... The slowest stroker on the internet according to the gurus....lol .. But what do you expect from an internet super model....
I always thought you were just the slowest driver. Your car was capable of the 10's with just a few more tweeks and a better driver. joking of course. not about the car
At 119 mph I could have easily been in the tens if I wanted to spend thousands more on suspension... And keep the car pretty much purpose built.. I agree with him that's pretty damn good for a street car...
