I ran out of things to fix today, so I decided to see how much these factory 440 parts weighed.
Disassembled 452 heads = 46lbs each
Factory 4 barrel intake = 43lbs
Factory car water pump housing = 15lbs
Factory car log exhaust manifold = 23lbs
BB 727 (no converter/fluid) = 127lbs

When I go to get the block bored out and have it off the stand, I’ll weigh it too.

Just some odd stuff laying around I could throw on a scale....
Ported iron maxwedge head, valves, springs retainers and keepers, no rocker gear-43lbs.
Aluminum big port bigblock Chevy heads, same condition-33lbs
15x3 1/2 cragar supertrick-8lbs
15x10 one piece torque thrust-20 lbs (lighter than I thought)
M1 dominator single plane 12lbs.

How bout a K frame at 32 lbs with stock but modified motor mount stands and can still bolt on a stock sway bar? It's solid welded too......stock door hinges at nearly 1/2 the weight.....and the list goes on :D

Weiand tunnel ram rb 21lbs
You mean this one?

Keep weighing things. I have also but it’s been a while. Great job,

On a similar topic, I was recently running the large cables for a battery in the trunk conversion. The weight of the large gauge cables was close to 35 lbs or so. Kind of made me question if moving the battery was really worth it since I had to add weight in cables to do so.

I remember one thing. That '70 "all iron" 6-pak with carbs was a heavy SOB

I haven't weighed it but about 21 pounds of carb and brackets will put these around 27.............

When I got done with the hinges, they were just barely over 1/2 of what stock hinges weigh. Even though I didn't weigh the doors before and after, I could tell they were lighter. My car was loaded with undercoating too....man, that stuff isn't all that light.
My 66 Belvedere I with /6 auto, factory AC was 3370 when I got it and took 400 lbs off before tearing the car apart to do the lightened K frame, door hinges and a few more things that I'm not going to mention :D

Last 440 block I weighed was 225 and a 400 was 215......and have weighed 906's that were 43 each. Used to have a note pad with weights but that was a long time ago missing.
