400 horsepower low compression 360

I have to admit, we have non ethanol everywhere here, but I have yet to see E85 anywhere.
I have a buddy who built a BBC to run on E85 in his 55 Chevy, he took it on one cruise with us, This was a 180 mile loop through the Delta... He knew his 24 gallon tank wasn't gonna get it done so prior to the cruise he researched stations along the way with E85... There was one... It was about ten miles out of our way but close enough... We all adjusted our route so he could get fuel...
That 55 Chevy is now in Montana.... His current ride has a 572 that runs on pump gas.... It's still thirsty, but it burns fuel than can be found at any filling station...

Non-ethanol isn't available around this area... As far as higher octane? In this area there are two stations, great, if you stay in this area, but I drive my stuff, not just around town, next Saturday we'll put around 200 miles on up in the hills, no race fuel to be found anywhere up there.... So, build an engine that can't leave town? That ain't happening... We plan our builds to run on the crap we can actually buy....

Next weekends maps... Doesn't include the drive to the starting point or from finish point to home...

Do you have e85 there? And not being cheap on fuel myself I start the year off with about 505 race gas on my drivers so if I have to stop and fill it up on the road there is no problem. My charger was the same way when all the power went out in about 6 states, and I had less than 1/4 tank so I had no choice but to put in 87. That's the same year I won the Dyno Challenge on the Woodward Dream Cruise on 87 but with a little help 06 or 07.

So does everybody think E85 is pump gas? We have a lot of it in Michigan. My one friend runs E85 in his Turbo ls Camaro but we installed a e85 sensor so the fuel system adjusts to what's in it.

You are lucky. Here in the corn belt Ethanol is everywhere and we have to search for non Ethanol fuel. :BangHead: :BangHead:

That's just dumb. It should all be available to everyone. I can see Kommiefornika. They want everybody to use what they want.

Iowa wants every state to use ethanol. oil producing states don't want anyone using ethanol. Not saying who is right or wrong or if there is a right or wrong.

I'll say it. Ethanol has no business in the petroleum industry. This whole scam was concocted to line the pockets of politicians. The poor farmers get screwed with a capital F.

Exactly correct. Ethanol isn’t a winner, except for the lobby making money off it. It’s corrosive, doesn’t store well, and competes directly with food.

Love it or hate it. Farmers around here will haul corn past the local elevator to the ethanol plant because they pay more at times. livestock producers will use the byproduct to feed their livestock.

The govt subsidizes ethanol, pretty much always have.
40% of corn is used to make it. It’s not a money maker by itself, it needs propped up, and it is.

“Most analysts believe the ethanol refining industry would not survive without the subsidies from both federal and state governments.”

That's why I try to recommend lower compression ratios. Between 8.5 and a flat 9:1 is plenty to make a fair amount of power on and have a blast with and still run on 87 swill you can get anywhere, plus you don't have to worry about it acting funny in traffic in the dead of summer. But people refuse to listen and push the envelope.

Look what it does to small engines. Just eats them alive. They don't last any time at all. I have a CHEAP Poulan chainsaw I got at WalMart about ten years ago. ALL it's ever seen is true Fuel. It starts every time and I never empty the gas out.

The CR police is coming after you now lol.

Don't get those Cid and velocity police riled up too :)

The closest E85 station to me is an hour drive away.. give me some plain ole Ethyl minus the corn.. there’s a one station near here that offers 91 with no corn in it.. I try to buy it from there when it comes to the old car

I found that race fuel works good in my chainsaws and weed eaters. They use very little so the cost isn't really a factor. Don't have to worry about stale gas or ethanol messing them up if they set unused for awhile. I always have race fuel around for my racecar and the dyno so it is convenient for me. I also have customers that buy race fuel And use it in place of a fuel stabilizer for things that are stored over the winter of summer.

Only problem there is race fuel has no oil in it. So unless you're mixing your own, you're running those engines without oil. True Fuel reminds me of race gas when it burns, though.

It also props up the price of corn and this is why it is supported by farmers who grow corn.

Oil? Like 2 cycle oil? Is True Fuel a brand name for pre mixed fuel? I've seen the VP race fuels brand of that at the local farm store.

Yes. It comes in either 40:1 or 50:1.
